There has to be some sort of buyout or escape clause in the contract wouldn't you think of wishful thinking on my part?

I do think at worst they could get Mike D to step down and offer a buyout of some sort.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

The Spurs have very good role players. True. But then again, the coach KNOWS his players strengths! The LAkers' strengths are more of a slow-tempo, playoff style of play or should be.

Hubie Brown in his last coaching stint in Memphis had players that weren't superstars but, had good players and in 2004 took the Grizzlies to the playoffs for the 1st time. Coaching is extremely important.

Fire him, fire all of Mike Browns coaches ... Pay Phil his price, get Cleamons, get Hamblen, get Hodges, get Rambis, and get Shaw if possible. Let Phil win and be Phil or just give him a percentage as he has earned more than Magic for the team, let him teach Rambis and Shaw by giving them chances to coach without him every now and then so that they can grow up and coach here making the triangle an institution of Laker basketball since its won more than anything in the league

Basically Jerry, Jim man the **** up and say Phil was smarter and salvage this now over trying to calmly have Mitch wipe the yolk from your face that comes from Brown and Dantoni because of a personal beef

Fire him immediately. I would rather have Kobe be player/coach at this point. Our old, slow team is gassed and run off the floor by almost every team we face at this point. How many fourth quarter meltdowns does D'Antonio need to see before he changes his stragedy. Substituting players, keeping the same crap that's not working, and not dramatically altering his stragedy is the hieght of stupidity.

If Kupchak and Jimmy Buss truly believe that D'Antonio is really the best coach for the current personnel the Kupachak should be fired also and Jerry needs to send Jimmy home and let Jeanne run the team.

Great job AI!
You took my suggestion of reassigning D-Antoni to the D-Fenders to heart... I thought it was a good solution. :)

Thanks! Maybe even a Theus-D'Antoni trade with the D-Fenders could benefit the Lakers. :D

While that would draw headlines, it would not do much to help the team win basketball games. His competitive nature is going to get in the way of him being objective. I think it's better if this team tries things that would help them get closer to a championship.

As per the wiretap:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... eing_Fired
The Los Angeles Lakers are not considering a coaching change with Mike D'Antoni leading the team in a free fall, according to a source.

Oooh... that's spicy... that's almost the kiss of death right there, but since it's only coming from "a source" and not "the team" it doesn't mean too much yet. Well, and not to bite the hand that feeds me, but RealGM reporting isn't exactly...

I digress, the vote of confidence is a bad bad thing (or good, depending on how you look at it). I don't hear about how much job security Popovich has, or Rivers, or Spoelstra, or Lawrence Frank even.

how about the "we gotta get faster" mantra?

going small is just a byproduct if your quick players are small

Initially, thought that Mike D’Antoni was brought in to raise the value of otherwise untradeable players. Artest. Blake. Duhon. He addressed that in his presser as that was his job in New York. I second guessed the Josh Smith rumor. I’ve never been a fan of his game but he would make Dwight Howard’s job easier defending pick and rolls…

However, two years ago, I think the front office screwed up by not signing Rick Adelman. This team has the personnel to run the Princeton. You can even assign positions based on that 2002 Sacramento team; Bibby – Nash, Peja – Bryant, Webber – Howard, Vlade – Gasol, et cetera.

Don't want to say I told you so but I told you so.

Seriously though...like all Knicks fans said this guy is a fraud and straight up stealing money at this point.

Your season is over. You need to start over next year and it should start now.

The first thing you guys should do is obvious and to fire Pringles. After really take a look at the offers you get for your players. See if there is any value in making a trade. If there isn't then just start thinking about how you can bolster up your bench especially the pg position.

Maybe we'll wait to trade for Lin to save D'antoni's job again. Could use some Linsanity back this season.

First of all, Kobe is more analogous to Bibby (the slasher), and Nash more analogous to Peja (the shooter).

But Webber and Howard are so different. You put (this year's) Dwight on that team instead of C-Webb and it wouldn't work as well. Webber passes AND shoots much better than Dwight. If you switch Marc Gasol (a poor man's C-Webb) with Dwight, then it works better.

BTW you forgot MWP = Christie :D

The problem is that neither of our bigs are great beyond the mid-post, neither of them move well without the ball, and not even Pau is as creative a passer as Webber.
In fact, none of our players move as well without the ball as pretty much all of those Kings players.

But the biggest difference is trust... In order to run an offense like the one D'Antoni would like to run or the Princeton, your players have to trust each other to be in the right places at the right times. We don't have that at all... In fact, that's an understatement... Our guys play like they're all afraid the other guy is out to take their lunch money...

Clark and Hill seemed to be the glue guys. Everyone else seems to be out there playing their own basketball game.

If we could surround Nash Clark and Dwight with Shooters, I think we could replicate some of what the Suns had, but I don't think we would be Contenders. I just don't think Kobe fits that mold and I think Pau fits more as a traditional low post player.

If we could get Dwight, Pau, Kobe, and Nash on the same page and replace MWP in the starting lineup with a 40% spot up shooter, I think we could be favorites to win it all next season. But it'd take the right system and renewed commitment from everyone to the team and each other.

I just don't feel like anyone on the team with the possible exception of Clark is really committed to what we're doing here... Including D'Antoni.
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...
