KB24 will never be the second option. I don't even want him to do that. Dwight needs to learn patients and learn from KB. Develop that killer instinct and Lakers will be ready to go when Mamba retires.

And as for the OP, you seem like a guy that would piss a lot of people off on game day threads....

This, and I wanted to add that when you step into a group of guys of similar talent like the Lakers, you aren't 'made' leader of the team, you earn it... Or TAKE it...
Dwight should know that already. And I'm guessing if this is in fact a real issue, that's what Kobe wants Dwight to try to do...

Absolutely the best way to put it. Kobe wants to groom Dwight much better than Shaq actually did him. So once Bean is gonna Dwight can continue to lead us to rings

Kobe tried to sabotage the team when Shaq was here by snitchin on Shaq.

It wasn't sarcasm. He mean't it if you watched the video. The thing is, it wasn't in some sort of negative sounding connotation. He clearly stated, this is my team but he's prepping Dwight to take over as a leader when he's gone, because he know it will be Dwight's team. There's nothing wrong with this or what he said and I believe the rest of the team knows this.

why didn't Dwight say it was Kobes team? even LeBron said that the Heat was still Wades team when he went there.

...and Kobe Bryant officially comes full circle... (see: Shaq vs Kobe 97-04)

He may be right that he's the leader, but still an ego-driven thing to say.

I like Dwight's answer better.

Championships teams rarely work like that. Besides that Pistons team in 2004 the NBA is a egotistical drivin league. But people are still missing the key point here Bean is saying he wants to teach Dwight how to become a leader and winner. No one star has won more rings than Kobe has in his era of hoop sometimes u guys hate to admit that.

+ When the game is on the line you just can`t run your offense
through Dwight Howard since every opponent would just foul him and send
him to the charity stripe. This is a major weakness of D12.

When it comes down to the last play, every Laker should be fine
to see the ball in Kobes hands.

I don't think the OP is trolling. This my/his/her team thing is stupid. It's a team, there's no ownership over it. Kobe's better to start playing some team ball.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kobe has the best knowledge of the game of the whole league.

The problem is that his knowledge often does not directly translate in his decision making on the floor. I think his words are indicative of his approach to team play, and don't think this is necessarily the best thing for the lakers.

It sounds like he's treating Dwight as a rookie fresh out of college. The guy knows a couple of things about basketball, believe me.

As a huge Kobe fan this is right. The only thing I dont agree its not as often as people would believe. What makes it seem really bad is that when he does go into hero mode it sticks out like a sore thumb and since he's been older usually results in a losing effort.
