Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
I'd only do the Wizards trade if we got Dwight Howard. Instead of the #4 pick and Bynum for Howard I'd make it the #18 pick,Bynum and future picks. That way with the #4 pick we could add a PG like Walker or Knight. Those two trades would greatly improve our team giving us athleticism and a better bench. We would be able to win now and in the future.
Walker or Knight/Fisher
Kobe/Brown
Artest/Lewis
Odom/Blatche
Howard

We would all LOVE to have Kemba and Dwight but that's not very realistic ... we'll probably need to trade Bynum the #4 and the #18 to get Dwight and Jameer which I'd be cool with ... or at best Bynum and the #4 for Dwight which means we could grab a PG at the #18 like Smith or Jackson which would be alright too.

I love J.R. Smith but not sure he fits on these Lakers ... Bulls and Knicks seems like better fits ...

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Any players you guys can think of that we can take on for a TPE that would both be useful to the Lakers as well as come with a pick (such as the Kirk Hinrich deal a year ago where the Wizards absorbed the contract and received a pick)? Perhaps through that method the Lakers can try to get into the late lottery or somewhere in the 10-20 range to get some youth and a useful veteran.
Remember if no trades are made the team has three needs:
- A lighter SF, that can shoot, and cut off the ball
- A true backup SG who can do it all
- A strong defensive PG that can make good decisions, penetrate, and shoot the 3. Doesn't have to be an exceptional player.
There are many ways of acquiring the players necessary for such a deal. There are teams that won't have enough cap room to offer for say Marc Gasol but would gladly give up a player for our TPE that may be useful as well as give us a draft pick to get the guy that they truly want. Lottery pick+medium level player versus Marc Gasol is a big difference.

Hey what does everyone think of this trade.. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1111721&p=27940207#p27940207
Nelson/Fisher
Kobe/Shannon
Granger/Artest
Odom/Turk
Howard
..not a complete offseason idea, but just 1 four team deal. Trading Turk alone after the trade could be an option, and of course some free agent signings would be in order.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Glad to see everyone is on the same boat with the Washington trade, but the Howard thing is a different story. I don't see Howard getting traded this year, let alone before the draft. Everyone knows that there is no offseason this year because of the lockout, so no trade can be done then. It will be at the February trade deadline when Howard finally gets traded after the Magic F.O. tries to make LAL & NJ sweat it out.
Asking for the 4th overall pick and 18th is too much and they'd much rather settle for parting with the lotto pick because there are prospects that they can actually use around that 18th pick. A lot of trades I see involve Bynum+picks, well I'm sure it will have to involve more than that. Which is why I hope we deal Gasol/Ebanks to the Wizards for Blatche/Lewis/4th overall pick. Then at the trade deadline trade Bynum/Blatche/filler/picks for Howard. You've got to admit that looks more enticing than Bynum/picks and way more enticing than the NJ offer of Lopez/picks. Orlando wants cap relief, picks and young talent, the deal I just proposed gives them that. Trading the PG we'd draft is silly and defeats the best part of the Washington deal, we'd finally have a stud PG.
You're not going to cheat Orlando for the value of their franchise player and best C in the league. If Mitch went to the phone and offered just Bynum/picks to Orlando, the half (Please Use More Appropriate Word) Otis Smith would almost suffocate from laughter.
PG: Walker/Fisher
SG: Bryant/Barnes
SF: Artest/Lewis
PF: Odom/Filler
C: Howard/Mohammad
Now this isn't necessarily how I would want the roster to look, because I hope to somehow flip Artest, but it's just a rough draft of where we'd stand after the Orlando trade. We'd be worse at the PF position but better in every other way than the 10-11 Lakers. But any trade involving Gasol will make our future roster worse at the PF position.
Upon reading this, this is uber crazy. But this is a trade thread, let me live dammit.

Any interest in Amir Johnson in case we decide to deal one of the big men later on? I think they can get him with their TPE. Might be the energy PF the team needs off of the bench and a part of that athletic component the team has been missing.

Maxiell and the Piston lotto pick for our TPE? We've done this before. Cleveland-James Worthy...
Maxiell might even be a good fourth big man to carry or we can deal him mid-year for a long-term SG like Salmons.

Not sure but they are trying to get rid of salary. The guy that I would like to add is Markieff Morris in the draft. As a large full-sized PF that can defend, rebound, provide a little offense of his own, block at a decent rate, and most importantly perhaps hit the 3 ball he's more of a rare commodity than people think. I think next to a true back to the basket center like Andrew Bynum he's a great fit since he lets Andrew guard the lesser big man, while Morris nails the three on offense to give the Laker guards room to post-up or drive in.

Re: Trade Options
How about we go make the rest of REALGM's massive Laker-hater community cry? Trade Bynum to Minnesota for the #1, then take the huge TPE plus two future Laker 1sts and Nene tells Denver buh-bye I want to be the Lakers starting C or I'm going to sign with someone and you'll get nothing.
PG- Irving, Blake
SG- Bryant, MLE
SF- Artest, Barnes
PF- Gasol, Odom
C- Nene

Have you guys gone on the Wizards board and asked about that trade? It seems like a lot to give us? Kemba and Blatche for Bynum? Granted they get to unload Rashard but Kemba seems like a prospect they'd be high on.
