Anthony Parker would be a solid solid pick up. He is the underrated version of Mike Miller to me.

No way in hell Portland trades Camby, he's their Greg Oden insurance policy (and certainly not to LA).

Good call on Parker but Gibson is probably more so available. Cleveland needs a backup C so maybe Sasha (expiring) plus a sign n traded Mbenga (its more than he'd get as a vet minimum) could snatch Parker and Gibson. Keep the MLE balance to outbid a vet min C away from Miami :)

Fisher, Blake, Gibson
Bryant, Parker, Gibson
Artest, Parker, Walton, Ebanks
Gasol, Odom, Walton, Caracter
Bynum, Gasol, Vet

J-Far, now that JFar has signed away you should change your moniker. S-Bla ?

Should we try to use Caracter as trade bait? I don't want to offer up Ebanks, but Caracter would make sense...

On my earlier Parker and Gibson - checked salary and no need to use sign n trade (of Mbenga).

Parker makes less than I thought, >2.9 m so it can be a straight swap for Sasha (maybe toss in Caracter as you ^ point out to entice Cavs?) Or add a pick? That Miami 2nd rd is not looking so good right now.

Just a thought.

Random idea of getting Trevor back. Houston has Battier, Budinger, Jefferies type SF guys but no real SG depth at all.

Sasha + SnT Brown at 3mil per for 3 years plus maybe some cash or future pick

Why, They get a shooter to surround Ming and a nice athletic backup SG. Sasha expires giving them more room next year.

We get Trev back. He could play swing minutes at 3 and 2

Cause it saves them money in the long run and fills other needs. Jermain Taylor has also been beastly for them in summer league (although so has ebanks)

Its just they have a lot of SFs and a lot of years on Trevors contract that maybe they would want to back out of now... just a thought.

Then we could work on making ebanks more of a 2 since he has a nicer shot and handle then Trev.

Kobe and Ron sit down to be replaced by the twins? :D

Blake/Ebanks/Ariza/LO that is a really long and quick lineup.

Doesn't Houston play Kevin Martin with Battier as backup at SG? And Budinger and Taylor as the backup backups? I'd say they are deep, not thin, at that position.

OT: Mavs, Timberwolves still talking Jefferson deal

Post#943 » by SniperHawk10 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:30 pm

- The Dallas Mavericks are continuing their pursuit of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson, according to sources, but talks between the teams have stalled due to Dallas' insistence that the Wolves take on contracts other than that of center Erick Dampier.

Sources say the Mavericks want Minnesota to take on the contracts of guards DeShawn Stevenson (set to make $4.1 million next season) and Matt Carroll (who has three years and $11.7 million remaining on his deal), and are reluctant to send Dampier to Minnesota for Jefferson, whom the Wolves have been shopping for several weeks, and who has three years and $42 million left on his deal. But Minnesota has no interest in either player, with point guards Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions on the roster, having acquired shooting guard Martell Webster from Portland in a Draft day trade and taking swingman Wes Johnson fourth overall in the first round.

The Wolves also acquired second-year forward Michael Beasley from Miami Thursday night, making their already-crowded frontcourt even more stuffed. Minnesota has already given center Darko Milicic a new four-year, $20 million deal this summer, and plans to bring 6-11 center prospect Nikola Pekovic from overseas to the NBA for next season to try and get minutes on top of forward Kevin Love.

Dampier's contract is valuable because his $13 million salary is not guaranteed for next season; he had to play in at least 70 games or 2,100 minutes last season, and wound up playing only 54 games and 1,280 minutes. The Mavericks aren't completely averse to putting his contract in a deal for Jefferson but would prefer to hold onto to it to use in other potential deals.

The Mavericks have re-signed franchise player Dirk Nowitzki (four years, $80 million) and starting center Brendan Haywood (six years, $55 million) to long-term contracts this summer. If Dallas acquired Jefferson it would have one of the biggest and deepest frontcourts in the league, perhaps capable of matching up with the likes of the Lakers in the playoffs.

I am beginning to get very nervous about this. How would a front court of Jefferson Nowitzki and Haywood match up with us?

I'm ready to lock up Bynum long term. Thee salaries are obnoxious for just good players. Sorry I doubted your worth AB17. He's making 18, he'd get max somewhere else.

wonder if we can give NJ enough incentives to take Sasha/Luke to meet their minimum salary, at least with Sasha he expires this season but trading him now might make it easier for mgmt. to spend say we get a TPE from NJ for Sasha.

Just read LA Times article about Fishers return it looks like he signed a 3yr $10.5m contract. Also it mentions that Livingston is still an option allong with Bell if they cant keep Shannon. Also Pincus just said on his tweeter that Brewer could be an option along with Bell, Livingston and maybe Tmac. Also Pincus mentioned a possible Kwame return.
