Re: Jordan Hill - 2 years, 18M
I criticized Dantoni a great deal, but is it safe to assume now that the FO mandated Hill's minutes be restricted in an attempt to keep his value down? I think so.
Is it also safe to assume that the entire theory of Hill being unable to play big minutes is fallacy? I think so as well.
Solid move by the Lakers.

Re: Jordan Hill - 2 years, 18M
it's an overpay, clear and simple.
hill's talented, but he can't put 30 mpg together without falling to pieces, but he's not a 9M talent either.
this can only really be attributed to the dearth of centers/big men on the market

Simply put your math is incorrect and wrong. Cap is 63, Kobe+Nash+Sacre+Kelly+Marshall take up 35. Add another million for Randle's contract. Add another 3.5 million for the cap holds because we're 7 players under the league minimum of 12. Now you're up to nearly 40 million which leaves roughly 23 million give or take half a million. Lin is 8+ wasting space on Hill at 9 plus Nick young's idiotic contract at 5 and that's 22 million. And I'm probably a million or so short because I just rounded some of the salaries. So no we don't have capspace. All that's left is the mini MLE. Great use of space by the front office
capholds decrease as we sign players, randle, lin, hill and young are 4 capholds we no longer have to count against the cap[/quote]
Randle's not signed yet. And yes cap holds decrease as you sign players but the player's salary comes into effect. Once Lin, Hill and Young were signed their salary is subtracted from our capspace. So in essence you get 1.5 million back but its negligible when you're 23 million in the hole plus another 2 million for capholds + 2 million for Randle. I don't have time to get into the figures but I'm sure I'm missing some numbers as well. If there is space it's only maybe 1 million.

I like this deal, and I'm lmao on how radio guys and so called experts are looking at the Lakers. Too many people over think the damn room. Hill was our best interior player last season until Dumtoni started screwing with his head.
As far as Pau, he is good as gone. Turned down 2yr/10mil deal, this was the Lakers testing to see if he'd play for less. Since he was willing to do it for contending teams, why couldn't he do it for a team that turned him into a winner ? Plus at 34 he wasn't getting over 8 or 9 mil from NOBODY.

you barely saw that? That makes the deal pretty good. If he plays like crap we trade him as an expiring. I think we still have a shot at Love. I don't see the cavs trading for him.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

I love Jordan Hill but there's no way Buss can justify spending 15% of the cap on a average role player. We're getting desperate.

At the beginning of free agency, Mitch had a dartboard in his office with LeBron, Carmelo and Love on it.
He put that dartboard in the closet this morning and brought out the other one with Nick Young, Jeremy Lin, and Jordan Hill on it.

Deep, it's not 2 years for 10 million, it was 2 years for 20+million.

Should be fun seeing Hill (a top 5 offensive rebounder in the game) with Randle who was a terrific offensive rebounder at Kentucky. Not going to lie we're going to need them with Kobe and Young on our wings.

Its not bad actually, but im assuming this is happening because we've been told no by melo.
the team option makes it a decent contract. worst case scenario hes a 9m expiring by the end of the season.

I mean cap is one thing, but once you know you probably are going to have to move on from Pau, and you look around and figure you don't really have a shot at someone like Bosh, then you almost have to lock up Hill for 9Mx2...
I mean strip everything else out of the equation... Is 9M a year too much for Hill in this Market?
I'm fine with this one.
Still having a hard time with Swaggy for 4 years, though.

Didn't think about it like that. That's a good point.

I can't see Young being a starter. I think the Lakers will sign a SF like Deng or Marvin Williams.
