Who are the remaining Free agents that can help us?

Post#1 » by thegamefritz » Mon Jul 14, 2014 4:35 pm

I'm not hoping for a Championship anymore but atleast a playoff will be great!!

I think the remaining FA that we should target are:
Greg Monroe.. Should be the priority but it's a long shot. Hopefully we do not over pay
Evan Turner @ SF
Jan Vesely @ PF/C
Ed Davis @ PF/C
lance Stephenson
Jason smith

then resign Xavier Henry and Wesley Johnson

I'd give Evan Turner a shot. He's like one of the guys the Lakers grabbed last year. A former high pick looking for another chance. Also, I'm sure he won't run out of gas on the freeways again if he signs here. But only for the minimum.

there is only about 2.8M left under the cap. Monroe, Turner and Stephenson are out. Nash could be waived to get another 6+M but would hurt cap next two years and haven't heard any inclination to do so. Ed Davis may be possible for 2.8M but I bet he gets more. Of your list, really only probable targets are Vesely and Smith but neither is very interesting. LAL needs a big wing with the extra remaining, but have no idea who that is.

im on the marion bandwagon. really like his fit with this team. Defense + slashing. would love to see his little 10-15 floater while wearing purp and gold, too. give him 25-30+ minutes a night and have wes play the rest.

I have it ($) now at 1.9 avail plus the room exception:
Kobe 23.5
Nash 9.7
Hill 9.0
Lin 8.4
Nick 4.8
Randl 3.0
Sacre .9
= 59.3
FA 1.9
= 61.2
+ ros holds x4 = 2.0
= 63.2

Could we get Okafor for 1.9 and Turner for the Room Ex?
I don't think either of those figures will get Ed Davis.

i dont think turner is an option at this point. Celtics are looking at him, and i believe have more money to spend. its looking more and more like rondo will be gone at some point this season, so their rebuilding can really commence.

Xavier Henry, bring Earl Clark back, maybe Blanche or Okafor.

Stein reporting that Caspi is most likely to be waived once the Asik trade is official. I would like to see the Lakers go after him. We really need help at the 3.

I already said it in another thread but once Boozer is amnestied the Lakers should make a big for him.

Caspi is garbage. We don't need another Adam Morrison potential guy.

caspi is garbage! i'd rather give those $$$$$ to Xavier Henry.. We need Big body coz we only got Sacre and Hill @ C! all teams will murder us. A Jan vesely although a scrub is better than Sacre. Jordan Hamilton is wing that hit the 3's

Not quite, as I said above, the available is 2.8M until Hill is signed. the calculation is as follows (from my post on Salary Cap further down the page now):

Nick Young 5,025,000
Jeremy Lin 8,374,646
Hill hold 6,650,000
Kobe 23,500,000
Sacre 915,243
Randle 2,997,360
Nash 9,701,000
Kelly 1,016,482
Cap holds 2,029,344
total 60,209,075
cap room 2,855,925

This is the max cap space currently available, assuming all FA renounced (except Hill) and Marshall waived. The number for Swaggy is a guess based on reports for deal total. Note: Nash can be stretched to provide a total of 9,323,258. So, it is still possible that a good FA or two could be added. On the other hand, the Nash contract could be useful in trade near the deadline.

I like to get Marion for defenses purposes and versatility, but hopefully mentor Randle in how to play defense.

Can Mario play SF? Or is he just a PF now?
He can easily be our starter if so with a young guy like X backing him up. If not go younger for a guylike Turner.
If we can snag Okafor for cheap that would be great.

That would give us
Lin-Marshall-Nash-Clarkson
Kobe-Young
Marion/Turner-Henry
Randle
Hill-Okafor -Sacre
A team that could sneak into theplayoffs if healthy.

@tviper Young signed for 4.83 first year (thanks for the hometown discount) and looks like Hill's hold is no longer showing on my sites so it appears as if signed while others still show the hold (ie Goudelock, Wes). If he's waiting to leave open some room that is awesome.
