Nate McMillan would be an interesting idea for an assistant coach. I remember reading coaches trying to reach out to him to add him to their squad (and maybe he already joined one. cant really remember). but again, hed be an intersting choice (if he indeed wanted an assistant (associate) job)

He's working with the Pacers:

That's too bad.
I wonder if he can get out of that obligation if offered an assistant coaching job

I don't think this means he's working for the Pacers any more than Hakeem worked for the Lakers when Kobe worked with him or when Howard worked with him as a Laker...

I think it's just like a 'skills camp.'

Would be insane to see all these legends on the sideline. BScott, KAJ, Big Shot, The Glove, and of course Mad Dog!

None of these guys would of showed up if that picture had Mike Brown or Dantoni instead of B Scott.

Madsen, Horry, Payton, and Fox hopefully. Fox could teach Wes how to play like a full time player and D up while hitting 3s. Payton could teach Lin how to be pg fully and eliminate some weaknesses. Horry is perfect for a tweeter big like Kelly as he was a 3/4 in la himself. Madden is just smart and could help us.

I know he and Kobe had problems but I looks at our frontline and say damn Karl Malone would mold the **** out of Randle and Davis at their size in the weight room and using their hands to defend without shot blocking.

Do think we missed out on Luke though.

Awesome article!!! Thanks!!! :kiss

~lol~:
"He's cocky," Gary Payton said. "The cockiness in him, it reminds me of myself. The way he puts his tongue out and laughs and smiles? That's a cocky arrogance, and that's the way he has to play—and the way he should play."

It's been almost two years since Lin showed up at Payton's house in Las Vegas

Cool, it's close to LA.

Payton, of course, was the Bay Area legend

I see.

"He always said, 'I get into trouble when I get into the air,'" Payton recalled. He noted that Lin was getting into similar trouble for New York, one reason he'd accrued so many turnovers.

"He gets in the air and gets stuck," Payton said. "He's not learned to control his game yet. Control means when you get to the bucket at 100 mph—you can slow it down, read the defense and expose it with a hesitation. He doesn't have that in his game yet."

Good advice!

I think he can be like a John Stockton where he can facilitate a lot of things—make a lot of passes, hit the open shot when he has to, and make people around him better." Payton was quick to add that he meant that Lin's playing style resembled Stockton's—not that Lin was destined to have a career like the Jazz Hall of Famer's.

Totally agreed!

"He doesn't play defense. That's straight, period. But nobody plays defense anyway. That's not the NBA, it's not in defensive mode. The only teams that play defense are Chicago and Miami."

I'm pretty sure Lin has improved quite a bit on D now after Beverley.

The Spurs, Thunder and Grizzs don't play D? Well, Green and Leonard weren't there yet but still......oh well.

Anyways, so getting GP would be real fantastically great, Kidd and the Bucks are trying to get him? Seems like Bucks fans hold a grudge against him. And he lives in Las Vegas?

The main concern here definitely, is what this coaching hire means for Lin?

"Jeremy Lin can get that ball and go ... We haven't seen that in a while in a Laker point guard." - Magic on Lin fitting into Scott's system

One thing to note, Showtime Lakers are onboard with Scott.

From Magic, to Kareem, Worthy, Cooper and the rest. Theyll be talking to him.

Hehe, sorry, definitely not a Lakers fan; not yet at least.
I ain't gonna pretend, it's what it is.

However, if he plays well this year and is, along with his fans, respected by the Lakers organization and its fans; then sign a long term reasonable contract, I might become one! Cheers! :D

Scott Skiles, Payton, and Lawrence Frank. Skiles and Payton are known for defense while Frank has some familiarity with the Princeton.

McMillan would be a great hire, but I don't think he will leave Indy.

We got to get one assistant that's knowledgeable of defense.

I hope the Lakers can get Michael Cooper out of his WNBA contract and make him one of Byron's assistants, another great defense coach. Gary Payton would be great as well.

Metta would be a good special assistant. He's young enough to scrimmage with the guys unlike most the others and knows defensive principles.
