BREAKING NEWS!!! Nash says "Playing Career Likely Over."

Post#1 » by Kilroy » Thu Mar 5, 2015 9:30 pm

One for those that need to periodically be reminded to breathe air and that water is wet...

Lakers veteran point guard Steve Nash all but officially admitted that his basketball career is over during a Tuesday appearance on The Bro Jake Show on TSN Radio 1040 Vancouver.

During his appearance, the two-time MVP and eight-time All-Star addressed his failed attempt to return, hinting that retirement was likely near.

"Unfortunately, the NBA game is just a touch too far for me. I play one game and I’m out for up to a month, and that nerve — I have a bunch of back things going on that compromise that nerve. You know, I’ve never worked as hard as I did the last 18 months [to] two years, twice a day almost every day to try to just give it that one last year or so. And you know, I had to finally kind of admit that it’s just not meant to be. And that’s tough, but I also feel a sense of acceptance because I gave it everything I possibly could."

he shouldn't have said this though, if he leaked something to press about feeling better than ever like last off-season, mgmt. might have given him another 3-4yr extension

Hell I knew 3 years ago when we landed him that he was toast.

I'm kind of getting tired of hearing about him and how hard he's tried to get back.
Of course his playing career is over.
I hope he goes away.
He could have shown some loyalty to the team that gave him a butt load of money at the end of his career by showing up to practices and mentoring some of the youngsters.

+1

Not sure why some people want him to stick around and coach/mentor. If he didn't do it while getting paid 10mil per year with people that are still technically his teammates, He's not gonna do it next year while getting paid less then a third of that.

Even still. He's not a Laker. He's done nothing but hurt this franchise (intentionally with the suns, or unintentionally with his injuries and contract) the day his contract expires should be the last day his name is ever mentioned or affiliated in anyway with the Laker organization ever again. We can officially forget this ever happened.

Nash wasn't as good as he was made out to be. It was mostly the system.

Kobe was robbed of an MVP.
