How does Houston sign him after resigning Beverly and Brewer? I'd gladly be a Phoenix salary dumpster for 2 first round picks.

Let me start by saying Kobe is my all time favorite player. But at this point, it's not about him anymore. We should focus on youth rather than washed up names.
Kobe signed a deal that takes up nearly 50% of the cap space, so I don't feel bad for him that we aren't able to field a competitive roster due to his contract.
It's time to put the Lakers first, I'm tired of hearing "let's sign player X for Kobe's last season". The focus should now be bring in guys who can compliment these young guys we have. We have a lot of young athletes who can run and play hard. I would hate to bring in a bunch of slow plodding, ball stopping vets who are years past their prime. Surround Russell with dudes who play hard, defend, finish, and shoot.
