Re: Doomsday Scenario! (R.Hibbert)
There's no reason to use the cap on a rental, lakers aren't in a postion to win now. They should use the cap just like the sixers did, help teams unload salary for some compensation in the form of picks.

I agree, but my reasoning for voting yes was that at the very least he is a legit starting Center in the league, and would help take the pressure off the rest of the rookies and allow them to develop.

We can do this and maybe get a future pick out of Pacers because they were so desperate to get rid of him. Maybe a change of scenery would revive his career. I think Hibbert was good center just a few years back...just inconsistent..

Re: Doomsday Scenario! (R.Hibbert)
There are some enticing salary dumps to be had, like Varejao and Cleveland, David Lee and Golden State, Chalmers/Andersen/Napier platter from Miami etc, so too early to be blowing your load on Hibbert unless Indy runs out of options and becomes willing to sweeten the deal.

Re: Doomsday Scenario! (R.Hibbert)
I would consider robin lopez first because he's atleast "serviceable"....You don't expect much out of him except for solid screens, rebounds, some altered shots, and sound defense on the cheap. He's an upgrade over Sacre in all aspects, the team fills a needed position, and his contract won't dent the Lakers.
My first option was DeAndre Jordan, followed by Tyson Chandler.
I voted yes to Hibbert, but not on that albatross contract, so my vote is NO.
I think RoLo is a nice addition to the team..I'll be quite satisfied if the Lakers can pick him up.

^^^^This. Mitch & Co. have utterly, completely and miserably FAILED in the opening rounds of free agency. let's just wait and see what happens.
And as we little peons have absolutely NO say in anything and are merely playing pretend games it's not like we can really DO anything about it anyway - unless one of us hiding behind anonimized usernames is actually named Kupchak.
If more people thought like I do, the world would be a much better place.

Ro Lo had met already with several teams including knicks..I doubt we have a shot at him considering we haven't talked to him yet while waiting for our tier one free agents to reject us.

Huh? I mean, it's not like they aren't trying to get guys to take their money. There's just not a lot of sense in maxing out the Tobias Harris' of the world, which is what treadmill teams desperate for 8th seeds do, and the truth is the Lakers are in a position where collecting assets really needs to be at a premium.
The problem with Hibbert is he's almost certainly going to opt in, and that's a huge slice of cap to commit to just when Kobe's coming off the books. If Indiana looked like they could be a borderline lottery team again this year, I'd consider it with a pick added, but I have to imagine they'll be better now that George's leg is reattached. A pick in the 20's just isn't worth it.

Beyond the fact that Hinkie has his first round pick this year, that strategy has major, major holes in it.
The Lakers need to do any and all conceivable things to become competitive while simultaneously nurturing the puppies in a proper environment.
It's time to win.
Hinkie may have some redeeming qualities, but soaking up miscellaneous draft picks, throwing caution, in this case competitive spirit, to the wind, is not one of them ... especially with no draft pick.

Given how quickly things have moved, day 2 is later than it'd normally be.
