Heaven forbid some of us want our prize rookie to get some quality PT/experience...
We may have got our wires crossed. Let me better explain. HE cut Nance out the rotation and slid guys down to make more time for Russell. Metta has played 4 and Kobe played some 4 in the second. In my opinion, Scott's narrow mind sees this as a way to appease the Russell minute contingent while not changing the way he wants to play Lou, the sudden increase in Kobe's time as he searches for wins, or Bass at C. He could have easily played Russ more with a 10 man group, but he isn't smart enough to do it. This is his way of saying stfu I gave him 3-4 more minutes while still not putting him or the team in a spot to succeed
I can't blame him too much in that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. But no, I don't think he's a very good coach either.
The easiest way to try and win games while improving the team
- keep Kobes minutes at 30. He gave the biggest cop out ever last post game when he played him 37mpg, by saying well his minute average per game isn't as high as last year as his justification. You have 6 guys on the perimeter with different skill sets but he doesn't try to see who compliments who with his rotations like it is a game of hockey
- Play Bass at PF and Black at C if you are going to cut Nance out. Bass signed on to be a PF. Black is a C. You can play Lou, Nick, Metta, BAss, and Black as the 5 off the bench. Just don't platoon, and instead mix and match. Let Kobe and Nick play together as they are a plus on the year. Let one of the young G's play with those two by subbing sooner. Let the other get more run with Lou and Metta. Play Bass and Hibbert together to improve the defense in stretches as BAss still does little things Randle ignores like boxing out. Let Randle and Black use their mobility and athleticism.
It's not the perfect group, but he makes **** harder than it has to be being an ass clown
