Here is mine
Starting five

Kobe Bryant

Lebron James
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan

Chris Paul
Shaquille Oneal
Dwight Howard

A "dream team" is a team that would be able to co-exist and play as one unit, not just a list of the NBA's best players.

i think the USA team that won gold is pretty much as good of a dream team as it gets. Sure, a few tweaks here and there would be necessary (imroving down low), but it wont get much better than what we just saw.

Great game. So glad it was close. Blowout games are not fun to watch unless you are such a homer. I am glad we won and Kobe got his gold. I do not think Kobe will play in 2012 games. He will be 34 and might not even still be playing pro ball.

Lets hope there is no treads made up trying to put the 2012 team together.

I was up late last night and saw the early results just by accident online of the Spain gold medal matchup. The second the game was over there was an article out see redeem not as good as dream for that one slip up as far as not destroying the competition by a huge margin. I wish they pawned the crap out of the Spain.

LOL Iceburg great avatar. i thought that was gonna be the one where the guy pole vaults his nuts by accident, that one is way better!

I was glad the game was close. I don't see why the sports writers have such little egos where they think if we don't absolutely demolish a team that we're not good. Why would you want to watch a blowout?

Nothing could be better for the NBA and the sport of basketball internationally then to have it be competitive like it was in the gold medal game.

Can you imagine having a world cup-esque tournament/intensity but for basketball?

Now that's where amazing happens.

That really depends, The dream team now meaning players of 08 it would be

Paul
Kobe
Lebron
KG
Duncan

Reserves

Wade
Howard
Tmac
Rip
Amare
Kidd
Pierce or Bosh

Now if it's the best of 00-08 it would be basically the same team except Shaq instead of one of the reserves

Now if your attempting to make a team on not only star power but what you think would be excellent chemistry and the right fits it would be

Kidd
Kobe
Lebron
KG
Duncan

Reserves

Wade
Howard
Battier
Rip
Paul
Bosh
Jamison-Garbadge man who never needs plays called for him

deron williams
kobe bryant
paul pierce
kevin garnett
andrew bynum

williams: he can break you off the dribble, he can muscle you in, he can shoot the J...a better fit than chris paul because of the jumper and strength and a better fit than kidd and nash because his younger and more athletic.

bryant: the best there has been since jordan. better than wade because hes just better.

pierce: imo, better fit than lebron because he has a better 3 point shot which is needed. definately better than carmelo because he's always looking for fights, imo, carmelo was the least fitted on the 08 team.

garnett: the most passionate player in the world. a monster when you need him to be. one of the few proven players able to give you 20/10/5 on a daily basis.

bynum: hes an old school center and he'd be a better fit than dwight cuz he has a better touch from 10ft and a better fit than yao ming cuz yao would be playin for china.

bench:
chauncey billups
dwayne wade
shane battier
ray allen
elton brand
dwight howard

I'm sure a couple of our best players that would make up a team were a little scared away by the 3 year commitment or thinking of their career. I don't know and can only think of elton brand >>> Carlos Boozer as a team player and able to help the team. Maybe they wanted to give several players a chance to redeem themselves from the 04 Athens games.... I agree with the fact that you don't have to play ALL your players (Redd, Boozer) but with Kobe and Lebron and others being in foul trouble, Coach K prolly would have liked to go WAY deep into his bench.

Do you guys think Kobe would play again in 2012?

Personally, I can see both Paul and Deron up for another go. Lebron up for another olympics, mainly because Kobe outplayed him in the final game on "his" team.

Dream Team
PG: C. Paul/D. Williams
SG: K. Bryant/D. Wade/K. Martin (Martin would be amazing in olympic style basketball, his efficiency would be off the charts)
SF: L. James/P. Pierce/R. Artest
PF: K. Garnett/C. Bosh
C : T. Duncan/D. Howard

Take out Boozer and Bosh, and add in Duncan and Stat. That's my pick.

paul/deron/kidd
kobe/wade/ray allen or redd
lebron/carmelo/
garnett/amare
duncan/dwight

your basically replacing boozer and tayshaun with garnett and duncan

and redd or allen for zone buster

Kevin Durant will probably replace Michael Redd.

I'd like to see Brandon Roy replace Jason Kidd.

Amare does warrant a spot on the roster - if he's healthy, motivated, and willing to play defense.

In four years, I wouldn't be surprised if Bynum is on the team. He's got legit size, incredible reach, the offense and defense, and great passing for his position.

No matter what people say about Dwight Howard, he is not a legit 7 footer. And in the international rules, where they allow a lot of contact off the ball and gimmicky defenses, Howard can get surprisingly neutralized. Amare is not a remarkably large player, nor Bosh.

If I'm Jerry Colangelo, Bynum has all the signs of being the perfect center for Team USA.

Four years later...how good will Bynum be? Good enough to be an Olympian.

That's probably the sickest lineup
Duncan has the ability to pwn international bigs....only problem is he was originally born in the Virgin Islands and has might have reservations about representing the USA. IMO most productive, talented and resilient NBA center in last 10+ years!
