Michael Redd?

Post#1 » by fareweatherfan » Fri Jan 23, 2009 10:59 pm

Slow day at the office. This is NOT a trade thread, so please don't make it one.

How do you guys think he would fit? Leave alone salary and any other considerations. From a purely basketball standpoint, would he work?

He has been known to not like to pass so if you look past that he is a very solid player and I would liken him to a better version of Ray Allen these days. Redd is a career .386 3 pt shooter and .371 3 pt shooter this year. He is averaging 21 ppg but he doesn't really fill up any other stat. He does have a decent dribble drive game and hits 80 % from the free throw line but he would basically be a 15 million dollar corner three shooter in this offense.

Right now we got Vlad hitting from 45% so I don't know if he adds that much more of an element giving that Bryant is 1st opt, Andrew 2nd--recently, Pau 3rd and then so on down the line.

The only way to get Redd form a Lakers' perspective is for Vlad, Sasha and say Mihm. I'm not sure if Milwaukee would be that enticed by that offer. I would think of trading Odom but right now the second unit with Odom and Ariza is making big plays and turning the game around for the Lakers'.

I agree. Except that I think Redd offers a bit more than you suggest. I think he would take a huge load of Kobe and likely extend Kobe's career. Kobe could become more of a facilitator (as he has done very well lately) and I am enamored with the idea of playing Kobe, Redd, Ariza, Pau and Bynum at once. Kobe and Redd are competent enough to bring the ball up the floor. Ariza would guard the other teams point guard. Wow.

speaking strictly basketball wise, on a team with kobe/gasol/bynum, i don't think redd would be any more effective than sasha.

i dont think so, redd's triple threat is way more potent than anything sasha could muster in a lifetime

Make no mistake i'm a fan of Redd, but adding him to our roster would cheapens kobes path to his 4th ring. Last thing i would want to hear from haters would be...kobe only won because he has more talent around him than bron. I'll have more pride winning with less.

Haven't we learned by now that Buss isn't going to waste money on another 10 mil+ contract? We already used our cap flexibility by trading for Gasol, and getting another RJ type contract is just going to make us the next Mavs/Knicks where you're deadlocked into making any moves.

Redd is a scorer that really adds nothing else on the table, and there is plenty of scoring from our backcourt already. As long as Pau and Bynum can work together and still be involved in the offense we're pretty much set as far as the offense goes.

MouteKicksBoute wrote:Bucks fan here. Guys, Micheal Redd isn't going anywhere. Our GM wants to make the playoffs this year, so I don't see him going anywhere UNLESS we get a guy or two in return that will be able to make more of an impact than Redd. The only way I see John Hammond trading him is if we get a guy like Rudy Fernandez in return.

the OP was asking how would Redd fit on our system he was not wishihg Redd would be traded.

Redd has a lot more to offer than Sasha, that's for sure. But yeah, speaking basketball wise, do you guy's really need another 20.00 ppg shooting guard behind Kobe? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I don't know if Redd would indeed have more to offer than Sasha on the triangle system. whatever faults Sasha has would be equalized by Redds newness to the system.

I think Redd would be similar to Sasha in the triangle. But would be on the floor a lot more. Kobe at the 3 and redd at the 2 or maybe some both backcourt since the triangle doesnt really need a real pg.

Michael Redd will miss the rest of the season with two torn ligaments in his left knee.

Bucks general manager John Hammond said Sunday that an MRI exam on Redd's knee revealed a torn ACL and MCL.

Surgery to repair the injury has not been scheduled.
