Id be shocked if we could dump sasha and his 2 years/10 mill on anyone after the season. But I love the idea of resigning Brown as the back up sg.

I initially predicted the lakers in 4, 5 max

losing game 1 shot that to pieces but my 5 max prediction still holds

it just feels good that we own home court again, especially with farmar and bynum looking like they belong in this team again

Sasha is virtually untradeable because of his contract. May be for Jason Kapono but we'll end up with a worse player with a worse contract but if you're looking for salary dump, Adam Morrisson in his last year is your man. May be package him with a couple of 2nd rounders.

Good game, especially for J-Far. Yes, that's the name that I know when he plays the way he is. He improved his Jumpshot, not taking bad shots, finding open guys in the paint, being involved with a pick and roll (much easier for him to score in the paint with his athleticism) Good Defense for us and Look at Bynum, I saw him rebound the basketball ,improved his post D a little bit and make a couple of Field Goals.

If this is the case Ron is gone for Game 4, they'd have no chance with him out and Yao hurting.

If we win Game 4 then Houston should expect a blowout in 5.

after tonight's game I can't help but feel that the proverbial "switch" we keep flicking on and off, will be on for good.

we'll see

Definitely agree Akiho............you may hit and we'll stagger but when we swing back it's going to hurt badly.

I was loving that pick and roll with Farmar and Gasol, we should run that more for Farmar, That style of play suits his game more.

i just want to state that its not really about "getting your game back" or the likes that farmar did well.
the simple reason that farmar matches up equivalently to brooks is the sole reason farmar does well with pg's his own size, and not so well against pg's bigger than him (deron williams)

so its not that farmar has been suckin it up lately...its just that he hasnt gotten the time, and he hasnt gotten the matchup.
the lakers have a well rounded group of guys that can match with pretty much anybody in the league. odom, ariza, luke, powell, kobe, brown...these guys can matchup with guys that are a little bigger or a little smaller than them...so its not whether we know how to play defense...its whether we choose to.

we have the team...we just need the will. our team is too much talk....
(like sasha not wearing green, odom walking to staples to think about his game instead of driving, boston sucks shirts, bynum coming with lame excuses, etc etc) the team, as a group, needs a "kobe mentality", not just kobe himself....
to state the facts...theres only one player on the lakers who has a "kobe mentality", and thats yours truly,
jordan farmar

Props to Farmar tonight for filling in for Fisher and having a very solid game. He led the team with 7 assists, grabbed 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, and most importantly he only had 1 turnover. Oh, and he also had the biggest +/- of any Laker player.

Great game, and I'm thinking he needs to get the backup minutes at PG so that Shannon can play his minutes at SG. I think people have forgotten how much of an asset Farmar can be. We let other guys slide regularly for their shooting/defensive lapses, so my opinion is that Lakers fans in general have been a bit harsh on this guy. I think he has shown that he deserves some playing time and I hope Phil will give him some solid minutes when Fisher returns. He's earned it.

Bench Vujacic. Permanently.

I wouldn't call Sasha untradeble Luke is untradeble most teams would like a shooter like Sasha 2yrs 10 million isn't that bad. I think the Lakers can at least get a 2nd round pick or two for Sasha. Didn't the Lakers get 2 picks for Rush.

Except Sasha isn't a shooter. He's just a guy that makes shots in practice and fails to connect when it actually matters. I'd take Mike Penberthy over his sorry ass any day of the week.

true and false.

true, people have been slammin farmar prematurely. seems like hes gettin out of this "sophmoreish"
slump. he'll come around and produce big for us.

false, because sasha knows this offensive system inside and out. and that reigns high in jax's book. he doesnt want to have to teach all over again the system to some new guy who is less or even par with sasha in regards to talent. attain a true STAR, and he'll go. but get equal value, he'll press to keep him. jax kinda works that way. he likes to stick with guys for a longer period of time.

sasha has to come out of his slump sooner or later

its good that we're not overly dependent on him spreading the floor

Slump? He has been in a slump for 80% of his NBA career (4 out of 5 seasons).

Folks, it's time to call a spade a spade.

Yup. It was great seeing someone play-make other than Kobe. Haven't seen consistent P&R on the Lakers without Kobe in a long, long, long time.

This is what happens when a players skills are utilized. A coach can't control a player's health, effort, or execution. But he can at least put them in situations where they can maximize their talent.

Here's to hoping this is the tip of that iceberg. (Somehow I doubt it, though.)
