Russia would appear to be the favourite because they are the only team that has most of their superstars playing. Oveckhin,Kovalchuk, and Malkin are all playing.

Russia has the best team on paper but no chemstry = no real shot at winning. Look at the USA mens basketball program you could have a starting five of Kidd or Chris Paul/LeBron James/Carmelo Anthony/Garnett/Howard or Amare and they would still loose and have proven it.
I hope Canada wins this one, Jonathan Toews is going to be huge for the Blackhawks and is one of the more complete players in the league.

This is really good news because I feel like our defence is our biggest weakness.
Dion Phaneuf will suit up for Canada at the IIHF world championship.

Oooo, but what about his teammate Jerome Iginla? I bet he's playing, right? Iginla never misses this sort of thing, he bleeds patriotism out every pore.

In the first major setback for a top team at this year's tournament, the Czech Republic suffered a power outage, getting shut out 2-0 by the Germans at Mytischi Arena on Thursday night. For the Germans, it was the first World Championship win over the Czechs since Moscow 1986.

I am so happy to see he got a hat trick because of all the garbage he is going through at the moment.
Canadian captain Shane Doan's actions spoke louder than words on Friday afternoon in Moscow, as he led his team to a 6-3 win over Belarus with a natural hat trick in a span of 6:35 in the second period. His goals came shorthanded, on the power play, and at even strength. The win leaves Canada atop Group F with nine points.

To the delight of the flag-waving fans that packed Khodynka Arena, Russia beat Switzerland 6-3, despite the ejection of superstar Alexander Ovechkin for a nasty hit on forward Valentin Wirz in the first period.
After serving a too many men on the ice minor for Russia in the first period, Ovechkin stepped out of the penalty box and laid a high hit on Wirz, who went down in a heap and slid over the Russian blueline. Wirz was assisted off by the Swiss trainers, and Ovechkin was assessed a major and game misconduct for the hit to the head at 8:42. There will be an extraordinary meeting of the IIHF Directorate at 11:30 pm Moscow time to determine whether there will be additional disciplinary action. Check IHWC.NET for an update.

Eric Staal scored at 0:23 of overtime to give Canada a dramatic 4-3 win over the Czech Republic at Mytischi on May 6. The overtime result means that the Czechs advance to the quarter-finals, avoiding the ignominy of recording their worst finish since 1930.
Canada finishes the Qualifying Round with a game against the USA on Monday at Mytischi, which will determine first place in Group F.
