MIN Goalie Starts: 3

Lottery Information:
We will be using the website http://www.random.org/sform.html to generate the draft order. I will get someone who is not in the league to run it for us so there is no bias. Your lottery number will be your registration number.
Lottery results will be posted before Saturday August 1, 2010 at 12pm EST.

Offline Draft Rules:
Each manager will have 12 hours to make his/her selection.
If you do not make your pick within your 12 hour time limit, your pick is skipped and the draft will move along to the next manager, and the next and so on. When skipped, you can make your pick at any time when you check back in.

If you feel you will not be able to make your pick when your time is due to come up, please email a contingency list to HKL_Draft (at) hotmail.com, or another manager who you trust to make the selection for you.

Once you make a pick, it is final. There is no changing your pick. You are not to edit the post that you make your pick in.

You may trade draft picks at any time after the lottery. You may also include players in your offline trades prior to the start of the season without experiencing the pending period you will experience during the season.
Once the draft begins, there will be a player moratorium, wherein you cannot mention ANY players’ name that have not yet been selected.

Add/Drop/Waivers:
There will be a 2 day waiver period for dropped players.

Injured Reserve:
Each team will be able to assign 2 players to the injured reserve list at a time. Players eligible will have a red IR beside their position.

Keeper Info:
At the end of each season, each manager will choose 10 players to 'keep' from any position. 1 additional player of your choosing kept can be a rookie.

::Rookie Info::
For a player to qualify as a rookie he must fit the following criteria; if a skater, that player must have played in less than 82 regular season NHL games, if a goalie, that player must have played in less than 70 regular season NHL games.

The rest will go into the free agent pool along with all rookies for the next season

At the conclusion of the season: The manager who wins the season (playoffs) gets to keep an additional player (any position) but loses their 2nd round pick.

The lottery for next year will be much like an NBA lottery, where the last place team will get the most “balls” and greater odds of getting the first pick, but no guarantee so as to prohibit tanking on purpose. There will be 4 non-playoff teams. The 2 teams with the worst records will have equal/the best odds (8 balls for example), the next 2 teams will have half of the worst 4 (4 balls for example).

There will be 14 rounds (approximately) to fill out your roster again.
I will keep track of each manager’s keeper list and will post them as we approach the draft for the next season.

All drafts will be offline.

ACTIVE MANAGERS ONLY:
The goal of keeper league’s is to make this multiple seasons, so please, only join if you want to be a serious part of this for years to come!
When posting that you want to be a manager in this league, please provide your e-mail address so that when the league is created on Yahoo I can send you an invitation – also for trade purposes.

Inactive managers will be replaced at season’s end with no hesitation.

A couple of things I would like to put to a vote for next year I guess...or this year whatever...

1. Since it is a "Keeper" League and not a "Let's rebuild your team every year because we barely keep anyone" League...can we maybe keep 10 or 11 guys next time instead of 7. Making it like 3 extra keepers of ANY position and 1 rookie of either a D-man/Goalie

2. Can the trade deadline be pushed to the final week before the playoffs?

3. I think there is a 3rd thing most of us talked about the other day but I can't think of it right now...I will edit this if I remember.

Q#1 : too add to what mike is saying, i personally think the keepers shouldnt have any position restrictions. if i want to keep 4 D for example, then i should be able too.

i dont mind bumping it too 11 Keepers (half of the team). makes sense to me.

so 10 keepers, plus 1 rookie?

Q#2 : trade deadline can be moved. i dont see any problem there.

i think upgrading the yahoo to include trading draft picks (for the next year only) so at least we have a confirmation trail on who has what.

thats my two cents

I'm fine with that...10 keepers any position...1 rookie

when does this come into effect?

i would guess if there is an majority vote for this year, we can implement the 10 keepers +1
or we can start it next year like normal.

it will make the draft go pretty fast, since there will only be 11 rounds.

I agree with the 10 keepers + 1 rookie, and think the rookie game limit should be a full season (82 games, 70 games for a goalie).

Even though I don't know who I'd keep, probably won't even keep 10. Having the option is nice.

I'd like to keep 10 guys this year. Why wait? Baseball too!
Also, Magnus Paajarvi -- rookie or not? (played 80 games last year).

Rookie. I thought we had this conversation last year when Tavares was the topic?

so looks like we have a majority vote for the 10+1 keeper expansion for this year.
(mike, jeff, pat, Nick, Dan, Gyro)

so it is written, so it shall be done.

:: NEW RULE ::
As of August 18 2011, the HKL will expand its keeper amount to 10 any position players and 1 Rookie

Colonel Angus' keepers:

Nicklas Backstrom (C)
Ryan Getzlaf
Dany Heatley
Brad Richards
Jonathan Tavares
Keith Yandle
Dustin Byfuglien
Erik Johnson
Marc Andre Fleury
Carey Price

Magnus Paajarvi (R).

And this year, it's my turn to be "that guy". Since we now have more keepers and fewer rounds to do, any chance we could start the draft on Sept 5th, thus allowing people on long weekend camping trips the ability to have a few rounds without missing the first few rounds? If not, no big deal, but I can't be the only one with long weekend plans.
