Best offers for LaMelo Ball?

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Thu Mar 28, 2024 8:59 pm

Charlotte decides to trade LaMelo Ball due to his injury history. His talent is not the problem maybe a change of scenery new medical staff can get him right.

Those will tough to beat. And I don’t think Spurs offer Vassell.

Black + Jett + 4x 1sts seems like Magic offer. Picks are kind of meh because 2024 is already #19 in weak draft and one most likely is Nuggets 1st owed.

If you guys are trading him, other teams should be very wary. And that injury history is going to keep teams from blowing you away.

No offer as whatever is offered will be immediately followed by other teams will blow this away or whatever.

I'm fair minded. Not expecting wow offers for a guy who's injury prone entering his supermax contract next season.

When he plays Melo is one of the best guards in basketball. The problem is he can't stay healthy. Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good.

If I was a GM he's too risky for me to trade for. He's played 22 games this year and 36 the previous season. His upcoming contract runs for 5 years at an average of a little over 40 million a year.

But I think Charlotte should consider trading him and move on. I bet some team will give him decent value for him. Maybe picks and a player from Utah? Or the Spurs (might be too risky for them)? Maybe the Pistons look to shake things up after a bad season? Something with Brooklyn?

Ok Shrink, here you go…

To 3rd Team: Towns

To Hornets: 3rd Team Assets (picks) + Moore Jr

To Wolves: Ball + Grant

Towns and Ball each have their own injury concerns. But Ball is locked in on 2nd contract max not Supermax. Ball | Edwards | McDaniels | (Reid?) is a hell of a young core locked in for 5+ years.

Gobert | Reid
Reid | Grant
McDaniels
Edwards | NAW
Ball | Conley (load manage each other, one cause of old age other injury history)

Wolves would finish games:
Reid or Gobert (offense - defense subbing)
McDaniels
Edwards
Ball
Conley

You’d have to be a brain dead GM to trade LaMelo

yeah, we are not trading him, and he is not really that injured. Just no reason to bring him back in a season where we have nothing to play for.

Doubt he’s returning more than half the picks.

Maybe ‘27 Phoenix, ‘27 Philly, Cam Thomas and a worst of ‘29 DAL/PHO/BK

What is your best offer for LaMelo Ball?

LeMelo has looked great when he's healthy but he seems injury prone. I'd be scared of trading for him and considering his brother has had injury issues too maybe there is some kind family thing.

And this is why HornetJail is almost certainly correct.

If he wasn’t extremely injury prone, with 4 seasons of majority of games missed, he would never be acquirable, and if he was, it would be for a king’s ransom that would leave the other team with nothing but him.

But since he is and has been thus far, the offers will likely be mid, so no point in even entertaining the thought of moving him when his upside is enormous if healthy going forward.

The Hornets would know LaMelo's health and work ethic better than any other team and the Hornets desperately need upside so the Hornets being willing to trade him would be a massive warning sign to any other team that would cause them to not offer much.

Of course JustBuzzin snuck over here to post this. Yes good idea, let's trade a 23 year old budding superstar before his max contract even kicks in for pennies on the dollar to make sure Charlotte stays a bottom feeder for at least 4 more years.

This post is reactionary to the news that LaMelo isn't playing in the final 10 meaningless games for the Hornets. Fans are upset he's not coming back when anyone with a brain knew this as soon as he didn't return shortly after the ASB. There is no reason to risk setting him back on the ankle once again just because.

I'm not at all surprised to see them shut him down for the rest of the season. There is no point in winning even one more game considering you're team is jocky-ing for draft position. The tale of the tape will be next season for LeMelo. Will he stay reasonably healthy? Or will he miss 40-50 games again? Guy's get hurt but some it seems more than others.
