What could Portland get...

Post#1 » by Run PDX » Mon Apr 27, 2015 8:46 pm

... for Batum, McCollum, and a 2015 1st Round Pick?

I'm just wondering what kind of player Portland could get for this package, and if there is any way to show Aldridge something special before free agency starts by making a big splash on draft night.

Raptors could send Terrance Ross and snt Amir Johnson for Batum

Idk why Portland would wanna trade McCallum

But maybe Batum and McCallum for Noah

they're not. If the point is to entice Aldridge to stay, trading a starting SF for a backup PF and a backup SG is not going to do it.

The original post of the thread is looking for a move to entice Aldridge to stay, using Nic, CJ and our 2015 1st on draft night. If he leaves is a different thread entirely, but, if he were to, I still wouldn't do it. Of course, Amir is expiring anyways, so it's iirrelevant.

Doesn't make a ton of sense, either, for Portland. They move starting SF(who admittedly had a down year shooting) for a backup 4/5. I'm not saying the value isn't there, though I'm not a huge Monroe fan, but it just doesn't make a ton of sense for the $$ Monroe is likely to get to S&T for him to be a backup. And I don't think him and Aldridge make a ton of sense together as starters.

Portland has shown interest in Monroe so I think that has a chance but would it be enough to keep LMA here, I doubt it. If we were to do that it would probably mean Lopez is gone and who is going to play center, who is going to play SF, and who is going to run the offense since that isn't Lillard's duty? Seems to me this would create more holes than it would fill and Aldridge isn't stupid he would have to see that and not in a positive way.

Imo Greg is a center and on offense would fit well with LMA since he likes to float in the mid range area. I admit i don't watch a lot of blazer games so idk if LMA can protect the rim if he can they would fit.

maybe 9th pick and Al Jefferson (if he opts in before then). would like Meyars Leonard too maybe?

9th and Al for Batum, McCollum, Leonard and pick 23

Batum for S&T Monroe is a dream scenario for DET IMHO, but I think it's a much more likely scenario if Aldridge leaves. Aldridge leaving would most likely trigger a mini-rebuild; Lillard / Monroe is about as good of a 1-2 combo as POR could hope for in that situation (to build from along with McCollum, Leonard, etc.), and Batum fits all of DET's needs at SF like a glove.

But I agree that Monroe for Batum won't get Aldridge to stay, so it doesn't fit the premise of the OP (but then again, I don't think trading Batum fits the premise of the OP, anyway). However, should that first domino fall and Aldridge bolt, I think there could be something to work with here for both teams.

I dont see why theyd trade Batum

CJ + pick(s) seems more realistic
