Re: Nuggets, Wolves and Nets
The Wolves would be relieving wing glut but making a ton of PF glut.
Love, Tolliver, Murphy, and Humphries with Beasley and Pekovic also deserving spot minutes.
Add to that Ellington might be the opening day starter, the team already has a ton of '11 cap space, and the Warriors first is probably too heavily protected to be worth it, I don't think the Wolves do this.

Brewer straight up for Murphy would help both Minn and NJ.

Re: Nuggets, Wolves and Nets
The Ellington for Humphries portion of this trade is greedy for the Nets, so take that out. Troy Murphy has no value as a player for the Wolves, and trading him for Brewer would most definitely not help them on the court or financially. If you could get the right assets to facilitate the Melo trade using cap space though, I would spend Glen Taylor's money. What is the protection on that Golden State pick? If it actually is unprotected in '12, I'd be tempted.

It is top-7 protected in '12. I think they're on the way up, but it is an issue, I'll grant you.
Is Ellington really in line for major minutes, after the Webster trade? Opening day starter??? I figured Brewer and Wayne would be the ones left out in the cold, once Martell, Johnson and Beasley got their PT. You could sub him out for Hayward, and the deal would still work. I just figured he was the more expendable between the two, since you just drafted Lazar.

Webster is out for the opening game (and potentially longer) with an injured back, and Johnson has been dealing with a strained hammy for a while which will likely limit his minutes. Once everyone's healthy, I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting 10-15 minutes per game.

I don't see any reason why the Wolves can't keep both (and Brewer for that matter). More depth is better than less depth, and constantly having someone nipping at your heels for playing time is great motivation to get better.

MIN adds a future asset while opening '11 capspace and relieving their wing glut.
The good: Using Murphy instead of Devin Harris is a step in the right direction for NJN, keeping a legit PG to play alongside Melo versus finding a team willing to send back a PG. MIN is a great team to use for cap space, because they have the money, a rich owner, and don't need to take back assets that can play.
The bad: MIN's paying $9 mil in cap space. They need far better compensation than the GSW 1st. Ellington's looked good, and they can probably get something for Brewer. Murphy is superfluous on the young wolves direction.
The interesting: MIN really has no use for either Murphy or bringing Humphries back to MIN. You may be able to add value to the overall deal if you take advantage of MIN's unique situation (cap space, rich owner, doesn't have roster space for talent). Are there any teams out there that could use them as players? Or would contribute some additional asset to swap their low-performing expirings for a better-performing one in Murphy? I'm not saying he fits, but the teams with low-performing expirings that could match salary might be:
GSW: Gadzuric and VladRad
MIL: Redd
NYK: Curry
PHI: Songalia and Kapono
TOR: Reggie Evans and Banks
It might be a way for you to add value to the deal. Right now, I don't think this is close to the package MIN would demand to use their $9 mil in cap space to help a team get Melo.

I wouldn't mind getting Redd, depending on his health situation. Having another veteran would be nice and if he could fill the shoot 3s Ellington role then he'd be perfect.
