My last Amare trade!! With Bargs & #Bewell

Post#1 » by FutureKnicksGM » Sun Jun 2, 2013 12:06 am

Trade ID #6272821

TOR IN: Amare, #24
TOR OUT: Bargnani, Fields

Bargs and Fields have been flops in TOR. Amare in 20 minutes > Bargs & Fields in 40 minutes IMO. TOR would be a playoff team. Get a first too!

Jonas/Gray
Amare/Amir/Acy
Gay/Kleiza
DD/Ross
Lowry/Lucas

Plus #24.

HOU In: Trade exception.
HOU Out: T-Rob, #BeWell

HOU would renounce exception and gain $5.2 million n cap space for Dwight & Friends. Get rid of a huge distraction.

NY In: T-Rob, Bargnani, Fields, #BeWell
NY Out: Amare, #24

An expensive way of trading #24 for T-Rob. See if the soon to be two teams who have given up on him were wrong. Royce in NY= Comedy.

Tyson/K-Mart/Camby
T-Rob/Bargs/Royce
Melo/Fields/Novak

Why? (Besides the obvious $$$ & health concerns).

Pretty much answered it in the parentheses.

Yeah but your trading less talented players (in the proposed deal) with the same concerns. And getting a first.

As a Rockets fan I just appreciate you getting #BeWell out of McAllen with this deal!

I would reluctantly do this for the Raptors

It's really for the draft pick

On second thought, Bargnani and Fields are leaving and a 1st is coming in....not bad

Yep, other teams might give you some future late first for T-Rob, we will take away your crazy (and give you a little more cap room).

I'd do this pretty easily

Lowry / PG
Derozan / Ross
Gay / SF
Amare / Amir / Acy
Val / Gray

Just in case the Raptors wanted to remove the last possible of shred of cap flexibility they might have in the near future, in comes Amar'e. Amar'e isn't healthy. He never will be healthy. His contract is the worst in the league; roughly double that of Bargnani. A change of scenery might benefit Bargs. No scenery short of a retirement village will benefit Amar'e. If the Raptors hated Bargnani that much, they could just amnesty him rather than saddled themselves with the costly corpse of Amar'e.

The #24 pick does nothing for me especially in a weak draft. We'd be lucky to get a Landry Fields out of it.

No thank you.

I think this is good value for New York but I think Houston can do slightly better with the bidding war they have recently floated and likely created. As much as Toronto wants rid of Bargs, I cannot see them interested in Stoudemire for two years but they might be open to Camby, White and Novack or Kidd for Bargs. Camby can be bought out if he doesn't simply retire if traded back to Toronto and Novack could eventually be rerouted as shooters always find a home. Kidd might have second thoughts on continuing his career as a player if traded north of the border.

Horrible deal for NY. Horrible. T-Rob better be a home run because if he isn't then this deal is a complete disaster for New York.

Meh, does NYK gain any kind of cap flexibility or long term relief ? Bargs and fields are on shi*** deals for a few seasons . The Knicks are so far over the cap that shedding a few mil in salary won't help . The Knicks would only trade amare for immediate cap relief or in a package for a nice draft pick. They get back bargs fields t rob and head case , none of whom are legit 2nd options .

The Knicks don't really have a depth problem . The problem is that their is nobody to help melo with the scoring load consistently . They do not address that problem with this trade . They are also strapped by albatross contracts , that problem isn't really addressed either because of all of the long term salary coming in . The Knicks would be better off keeping amare and hoping he can stay healthy because when healthy he is better than Bargs + fields + trob .

Knicks say no

The Knicks do have a depth problem but its mainly due to age in our front court and our point guard spot. This doesn't really solve either of those issues.

We do save some money but its not enough to really help us all that much. Our cap number would drop from 76+ million to 71+ million this year and from 76+ million next year to 73+ million.

But yea. Overally not really a good deal for us unless T-Rob really blows up. He's more likely to be a bust than a superstar.

Raps should stay away from this deal. This is not the same Amare. I even liked our Jermaine O'neal trade back in the day better than this one.

I don't see Masai doing such a deal. He rarely trades for injury-prone players.

I would much rather have Boozer who has 1 and a half knee left, versus a quarter of a knee with Amare.
