I save the links to these threads and it always surprises me that after only six months, players after the top two can jump all over the place. One of the reasons these guys are superstars is that we get not just high production, but "consistent" high production. Still, our projection of youth, contract situation, injuries, and other factors bounce players all over the place.
Anyway, we all rate players differently because it's all about expected production. I just thought that if you read a trade offer for your superstar that you think is too low, don't get mad ... Just wait a couple months!

Here was last year's top 20 for those that didn't save it.
1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Kyrie Irving
4. Derrick Rose
5. Carmelo Anthony
6. Chris Paul
7. Anthony Davis
8. James Harden
9. Russell Westbrook
10. Blake Griffin
11. LaMarcus Aldridge
12. Kevin Love
13. Rajon Rondo
14. Marc Gasol
15. Damian Lillard
16. Andre Drummond
17. Jrue Holiday
18. Stephen Curry
19. Paul George
20. Dwyane Wade

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1229710#sthash.C8gN8gkk.dpufThe big changes I see.
ContractsMuch better now: Dwight and Paul. Dwight couldn't crack top 20 because of his impending free agency, and between that and the lingering injuries, I'm not that surprised. Similarly Chris Paul was an impending free agent so that dragged him down. So, both those players could get a huge contract bump and it is consistent as far as I'm concerned.
Worse now: Everyone that didn't resign. However, the biggest difference is felt when it gets down to 6 months left. So I would expect a huge decline in Melo and Lebron (and Wade). And Lebron being tied with Durrant was a huge decline, as he is the runaway mvp, etc etc etc. Next up would be the 1.5 year crew, LMA, Love, Rondo, Gasol
Break out youthMuch better now than a year ago: George, AD. Both have absolutely exploded since last January, so going from the bluest of blue chip prospects to All Stars should get them a jump. Its one thing to be projected as a legit difference maker, another to do it.
Not shining as brightly: Kyrie, Jrue. Kyrie provides a nice counterpoint to George. It is hard to say he was too low when he hadn't performed yet to that level. With the year Kyrie and the Cavs have had, I would expect him to slide a little because not every player makes the jump that AD and George have. Jrue tailspinned after January last year, and its not clear if he will have Paul George style breakout left, or if he will look like Favors and a very solid guy that might never take a step to overshadow an Amir Johnson type role.
{expect lots of arguments about Drummond, Irving, Kyrie, Lillard, etc here though}
InjuriesBetter now: Curry. At this point last year, there was so much debate about his ankles. Like Chris Paul's knees, now it is something not really mentioned. Both could change quickly back, but for now there is a big positive bump from the improved health.
Worse now: Rose. (Rondo Gasol Westbrook). Rose can plummet and its more a comment on the occurrence of injuries in derailing careers than anything else.
Altogether, I think last year's list is pretty solid in hindsight. Here was mytake at the time:

I think PGs are generally overrated on this list, given how deep/good this PG class is.
I think Gasol is a little too high as well.
I agree with Curry being to high.
Paul George is too low, he should be ahead of Jrue for the reason mentioned above.
Paul as a ufa shouldn't be ahead of Harden and Davis. Or Blake.
For this year, I think Lebron is already ranked too high (contract). Also likely to be ranked too high? MCW, Drummond, Rubio if he makes the list.
And Dwight, Blake, and John Wall will be ranked too low. Blake is really underrated on this board always, Dwight I'm about ready to start voting for and he might not clear through nominees, and John Wall has quietly had a nice renaissance after his injury last year.
I'm not sure where Cousins will go, but lets go ahead and call it the biggest controversy on the list?
