End of Season Draft Order: How many top 5 picks to 1 Team

Post#1 » by Xman » Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:17 pm

season ending pre-lotto draft order (wins) :

1: Mil (15)
2: Phil (19)
3: Orl (23)
4: Boston (25)
5: Utah (25)
6: LAL (27)
7: Sacra (28)
8: Det (29)(pick goes to Charl if it drops to 9 by a lower team getting lucky in lottery)
9: CLE (33)
10: Philly (34)(NO pick)
11: Denver(36)
12: Orlando(37) (Orlando will get 12 from NY)
13: Minny (40)
14: Phoenix (48)
- - -
15: ATL (38)
16: CHICAGO will get CHA (43)
17: BOSTON - will get Nets pick(44)
18: PHX will get Wash (44)
19: Chic (48)
20: Tor (48)
21: OKC will get DAL (48)
22: Memphis (50)
23: Utah will get GS (51)
24: Charlotte - will get Port pick(54)
25: Hou (54)
26: Miami (54)
27: PHX will get Indy (56)
28: LAC
29: OKC
30: SA

The real movers and shakers (multiple picks already) in the draft look like:
PHX - 14, 19, 27
Philly - 2, 10
OKC - 21, 29
Utah - 5, 23
Boston - 4, 17
Chic - 16, 19
ORL - 3, 12

Had a crazy Idea to put all top 5 picks on same team since they are 5 different positions - could not do it. ORL comes closest followed by Boston:

ORL: could not quite get there (would have been stretching assets to get Utah also)
assumption here - they get lucky and get #1.

Milw deal: #2, mayo, Ily and Zaza (21.1) for Afflalo, Harkless (10), #12, ORL #1 in 2015 with top 8 protection.
- Idea is that Milw cuts contract lengths and gets out form under the trio it sends out. Plus, it gets short contracts for players that will play. That is for dropping to #12.

Philly deal: JRichardson, #3 for Vucevic, get 2016 Philly 1st back
- Assuming ORL (or anyone else) takes Wiggins/Parker with first two picks. Vucevic could play well next to Noel - would be strong pairing.

Boston deal: GWallace, #4 for Oladipo, 2017 LAL #1
- Boston clears it problem contract, get a future Laker #1 (always nice) and gets a SG that should play well next to Rondo.

Not sure if all these get there - but ORL clearly has enough to end up with the top 3 picks if it chose to push.

TWIST: If Sacramento got a top 3 pick also than it could work: #3, CLandry, JThomp, JTerry, Outlaw for the 2017 LAL #1.
- Would be salary cap heck for a couple of years but that would be ok with rooks developing - then gone when you need to resign them.

- - BOSTON
Again - easier to do if they got lucky and got #1

Mil deal: #2, Mayo, Ily, Zaza, Knight for Rondo, Bass, Green
-

Philly deal: JRich, #3 for Olynck, Sully, #17, LAC #1 in 2015 along with Miami and Nets #1s in 2016 and Nets #1 in 2018 (all unprotected) and Bost #1 in 2016 with top 5 protection.

ORL or Utah deal: nothing left that's interests them.

________-
CLE attempt
- assumption that CLE gets #1 to try this

Milw deal: #2, Knight, Mayo for Irving

Philly deal: JRich and #3 for Bennett (or TT), Waiters, Sacr and Charl #1 picks.

ORL/BOS deal: not enough left

But, top 3 picks would be nice.

- - -

So, after looming at this, Milwaukee seems to be a good team to deal with to get a high pick (want to lose bad contracts and need talent across the board).

OKC trades Durant for the #1, Westbrook for the #2, Ibaka for the #3.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to take out a restraining order against bondom before he murders me.
