Re-Launch: BOS-BRK-MIL

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 5:41 pm

I have tweaked the proposal I made yesterday, to attempt to clear as much '15 cap as possible for the Celtics.

Celtics trade Green/Wallace/BRK1sts for Garnett/Delfino
BOS takes pole position in the Love Sweepstakes.
Rondo, Smart, Young, Sullinger, Zeller
Bradley, Thornton, Delfino, Bass, Olynyk

Nets trade Williams/Garnett/Teletovic/Teague for Green/Mayo/Ilyasova/Knight/BRK1sts
BRK absorbs '15 salary to regain their picks, and balance the payroll.
Knight, Johnson, Green, Ilyasova, Lopez
Jack, Mayo, Bogdanovic, AK47, Plumlee

Bucks trade Mayo/Ilyasova/Knight/Delfino for Williams/Wallace/Teletovic/Teague
MIL reels in pet projects for Kidd. (MTV acquired with Neal TPE)
Williams, Adetokoumpo, Parker, Teletovic, Sanders
Teague, Wolters, Wallace, Henson, Pachulia

Wait, Williams as in Deron Williams? No thank you.

Easy no for the nets. We get worse now and dont improve much going forward. getting back our firsts is really low value. i'd rather just buy into the second round in '16 and '18.

Basically this is just get much worse now in order to dump williams. im all for dumping dwill, but not for a ticket into the lottery

They threw in Gerald Wallace too to soften the blow.

Nets and Bucks cannot make any trades this season.

Remove the picks and it's a yes from Boston. I love KG but he's not worth giving up a first round pick at this point of his career.
Boston Celtics depth chart:

Guards: Holiday, White, Pritchard
Wings: Tatum, Brown, Hauser, Brissett
Bigs: Porzingis, Horford

I thought the Kidd "trade" was part of the 13-14 season. I don't believe the rule to which you are referring mandates a straight 365-day moratorium, but rather restricts by season. Since we are in the beginning of the 14-15 season, we're good, right?

It was one calendar year. Deals DOA anyway. 80 million for Wallace and Williams on a rebuilding team? Uh no.

Have to agree from the Nets side too.

Generally speaking, it's not wise trading for the vets of a 15 win team in a historically bad Eastern Conference, which is all the Bucks would be offering. The only way it would make sense is if the Nets were getting major salary relief in the process, but even then it means Atlanta and Boston would be getting top 10 picks the next two drafts.

And wow.. I just looked at the standings.. I didn't realize Philly, a team with no vets, who some though would test their own record for futility (12 wins) finished 4 games ahead of the Bucks. That is scary. What is even scarier, is that I almost thought the Bucks would fighting for the playoffs last year. Not you, but some other Buck poster, really had me buying into the Sanders hype saying he could win 30-35 games on his own, though it looks like they were 3-20 when he played.

I do think they will be a lot better than people think this season with Kidd at the helm, but I won't go crazy this year and proclaim they could make the playoffs.

How is this deal horrendous for EVERYONE?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, it's one of MY deals! I have a special skill for mortifying all team involved.

At least you guys can't say I skew all my trades in BRK's favor; fellow Nets fans hate me now too!

This is awful for Boston. They got all those firsts in part for Garnett. Now they give them back? That makes no sense.

For the Nets, they don't have a big enough hole at SF to downgrade at PG and PF to get the hole filled.

And for the Bucks, they take on Williams and Wallace and their messes of deals and a bunch of pieces they don't need. Also, stop putting Antetokounmpo at SG. He's not a SG. He's not playing SG for anything but small stretches at best.

So, yeah, this deal is kind of a mess all around. Don't take it personal. We all post bad trades. Lord knows I do. But this one is really not good for anyone.

How about just cut out the Bucks and trade KG for Bogans and Bass? Nets get immediate savings by being able to waive Bogans for nothing, and get a more productive player (on an expiring contract too) for a position of need. Boston clears a log jam at power forward, gets mentoring for all their young bigs, and KG can to retire a Celtic like he should.

I'd do...

Bass, Faverani, Bogans
For
KG, Teague

Nets fill out their roster and save about $8m in salary and tax.

D.Will l Jack l Gutz
AA l BB l Brown
JJ l AK l Karasev
Teletovic l Bass l Jefferson
Lopez l Plumlee l Faverani

I like my idea better, but push come to shove I'd cave and take this offer. Done.

it doesnt get us under the tax and KG is a better option as 3rd string center. bass is terrible
