Kanter to OKC

Post#1 » by Hedda Gambler » Fri Oct 17, 2014 5:30 am

The premise of this deal is that the Jazz decide that Kanter is not part of their long term future and take a gamble on Durant leaving OKC in 2016 . OKC add a versatile PF/C to make a final push for the championship.

Jazz in/OKC out: Perkins + 2017 1st unprotected
OKC in/Jazz out: Enes Kanter + filler - most likely Ian Clark or some unguaranteed deal.

Wow, that's pretty bad return for Kanter. We wouldn't even trade Marvin Williams for a late pick, would be SHOCKED to see us do that deal. Better to just play him this year and let him walk in free agency.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Well we have no idea what kind of return it would give us. It`s a huge gamble, but if Durant leaves, the whole team might fall apart and we`d have a very pick on our hands.

I want Gobert to get run as much as the next guy, but, this deal ain't working for me.

Adams is likely to start for OKC, I don't really know if the need is there anymore tbh.

This is a move that no lottery team should do.

If Durant leaves, this is a potentially great trade for Utah. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't know if Kanter is part of the long term plan for the Jazz and I don't see him having that much trade value when he will be a RFA this off season.

I'd thought Monroe would have been an interesting pickup for OKC. Not expensive, no long term commitment, and probably doesn't have a huge trade price-tag due to his likely leaving town anyway. I figured why not just go for it. Monroe/Ibaka/Adams is a nice blend up front.

I lost interest after he signs the qo he is a great talent but not sure it is worth losing a backup center for a rental.

Kanter would be a luxury, but not one any franchise should give an unprotected pick that far out for. You never know what can happen, that pick might be good. I would do Kanter, Novak for Perkins, PJ3. But I wouldn't give more for a rental of Kanter.

And I'd rather have the athleticism and hustle of Adams on a rookie deal than the methodical offense of Monroe on maybe a max contract next year.

OKC couldn't resign Monroe without losing one of their big three.. Monroe would be the ultimate rental. So really I don't see OKC giving up anything at all for Monroe.

Kanter, is different.. He'd come with bird rights.. And he'd fit well and might be affordable..

But for OKC they'd have to decide between Jackson and Kanter before trading for Kanter.. OKC possibly can't afford either one, but definitely can't afford to extend both and stay under the tax..

Also - I doubt Utah is willing to bet on Durant leaving OKC like this. They'd want a much better asset.

I don't agree to many offers, but this one I'd do in a heartbeat.

Yeah I was thinking picks and B level prospects, but I guess OKC would literally have no shot at resigning him because of the salary scenario. Hadn't thought that through.

I haven't changed my opinion. I still think we should have kept Kanter over taking that deal we got.

Really? After watching the team flourish since the trade, I`d do it again every time.

Even after his comments???? There is NO chance that we hold onto Kanter. NONE. He would have signed literally anywhere else. We would have lost him for NOTHING. Also, how valuable was it to see Gobert in the starting lineup?? I mean listen to the comments of his ex teammates. They knew he didn't buy into the system and was only looking out for himself. Who in the world would want something like that? I'd rather waive him and get nothing, than have that cancer on this team. The fact that we got anything for that selfish immature player who is the worst defensive Center in the entire NBA is a HUGE win
