2 trades that will make the Knicks title contenders

Post#1 » by rickrolled » Wed Oct 29, 2014 8:46 pm

Trade #1

NYK gets: Kobe Bryant (agrees to waive NTC)

LAL gets: Amare, Hardaway, future pick

Lakers go full rebuild, tank mode and get a bunch of cap space and no Kobe to scare players away. Melo recently defended Kobe so I guess they could get along, especially since Jackson is the coach he'll keep them focused, plus Kobe wouldn't be the alpha dog there, but a piece of the puzzle.

Trade #2

NYK gets: Hibbert

IND gets: Bargnani, Dalembert

Indiana gets 2 bigs for 1, for their treadmilling, while the Knicks gets a stop gap at center for at least this season, and maybe next if they fail to get Gasol.

Knicks roster:

Calderon/Prigioni
Kobe/Smith
Melo/Shumpert
Acy/Moultrie
Hibbert/Smith

Their weakness is the PF, and little too weak at PG but that team is strong at 2,3 and 5.

OR...NYK trades their whole team to CLE for their whole team...INSTANT CONTENDER !!

My trade proposal is just as likely to happen, Kobe isn't going to NY and Hibbert for Barg's just as likely to happen, sorry to tell you.

Kobe isn't worth a future first round pick. If the Lakers could get salary relief and young prospect for Kobe, they should take that deal and run. They wouldn't. But they should.

Dalembert is pretty solid and fits with the Pacers. They get cap relief as well. I would do that deal, but I doubt Bird does

It's a horrible deal. We already have a decent backup center in Mahinmi (which is what Dally is) and Bargnani's value is incredibly negative.

If we wanted to just dump Hibbert for an expiring we could get some sort of an asset in addition to that easily.

The deal will need Hardaway or Shump/Larkin together but I think the premise isn't that bad. I don't like Hibberts fit with New York though, and I have no idea what the Pacers are doing.

That team is the 3rd best team in the East in the absolute best case scenario.

Yep! I still take the current Bulls and Cavs team over a team with Melo, Kobe and Hibbert. I see chemistry problems, or in Roy's case, sulking problems.

Neither of these Trades make the knicks contenders, but these might be enough to push knicks in the playoff, but neither kobe or hibbert would get the knicks out of the first round

That team wouldn't be a contender.

Instant contender to the most expensive lineup in basketball.

Melo + 36-year-old Kobe + Hibbert + nothing else =/= contender.

Well, I don't even know if they would be 3rd in the east, probably 4th to me behind Toronto as well. Plus, Hibbert is worth more than that, and neither team does the Kobe trade.

Seeing Kobe trades is so painful. This board kills me slowly when it does it.

Wonderful deal . . . it's like having Isiah back saying Marbury and Steve Francis would make the Knicks title contenders.

It seems like the assets (Hardaway and future pick) should go to Indiana not LA.

If the Lakers move Kove it will be to clear space and I doubt they get much more than Larkin from NY. Having said that I think that both Kobe and the Lakers understand what it means to have a player play his entire career in 1 uniform and he won't be traded.

As for Hibbert - how much do you want to give up for a guy who you can sign as a free agent next offseason?
