Kings - Pistons - Nets

Post#1 » by Beam Me Up Foxy » Sun Dec 21, 2014 4:23 am

Kings deal:
Jason Thompson, Derrick Williams, Reggie Evans and Ramon Sessions

Kings receive:
Deron Williams, Mason Plumlee*, Brandon Davies*, Tony Mitchell*

Pistons deal:
Brandon Jennings, Tony Mitchell

Pistons receive:
Ramon Sessions, Derrick Williams

Nets deal:
Deron Williams, Mason Plumlee, Brandon Davies, Tony Mitchell

Nets receive:
Brandon Jennings, Jason Thompson, Reggie Evans

*Denotes players absorbed via TPE

Kings make a splashy move
Nets shed about 5 million instantly and multiple millions later while obtaining a starting caliber PG and a good rotational big man. I think the Nets save tens of millions of dollars over the course of Deron's contract by doing this deal.
Pistons shed dollars now and turn the reigns over to R.J. Augisession at PG.

This is worse for Brooklyn than the deal they are currently rejecting.

From Detroit's end, would do it in a heartbeat. Don't think Brooklyn are willing to ship Mason out though.

I don't see how Brooklyn moves williams without some greasing of the wheels. Plumlee is that grease

The Nets attaching Plumlee to move a contract like Williams is not unreasonable.

Brooklyn won't do it as its worse than the rumored deal.

Like it or not Plumlee isn't being moved.
If the Nets are moving D.Will it means they have decided to give up, save money and think about the future. They want to get younger, more athletic and have affordable role players to have in 2016. Thus why would they move a young, cheap, athletic role player who is arguably their best asset (sadly too)? If they were still about the now...yes I can see Plumlee being moved, but they are not.

Also Brooklyn doesn't have to trade D.Will. They are better suited waiting a year when he only has one nore season or using him as a giant expiring in 2016 than to sell of their only decent young assets to save money and get worse.
