Ed Davis to OKC

Post#1 » by MoneyTalks41890 » Tue Jan 27, 2015 3:24 am

Been posted in other threads but I want to see the discussion when the idea has its own thread. I'm throwing in an alternate idea that's been tossed around for discussion as well.

LA out: Davis
LA in: PJ3, 2015 OKC 2nd

LA gets two cheap players to help fill the roster next year while maintaining cap space for a guy who is going to be an UFA and command a pretty good contract.

PHI out: heavily protected 2nd
PHI in: Perkins, Lamb, 2016 MEM 2nd

PHI uses cap space to absorb Perk and gets Lamb and 2nd for the privilege. BOS could also be substituted. Lamb has been in Brooks' doghouse for the better part of this year despite rather solid play when he was getting minutes early. He is still a big SG with crazy range and the tools to be a great defender.

OKC out: Perkins, Lamb, PJ, 2015 OKC 2nd, 2016 MEM 2nd
OKC in: Ed Davis

OKC gets under the tax line for guys who aren't playing and a couple seconds. Also get a good defensive center to improve the 2nd unit.

2nd idea:

LA out: Hill, Davis, 2015 second (reverse protected 31-40, if not conveyed 2016 2nd unp.)
LA in: RJ, Perk, Lamb

LA gets their PG of the future and a developmental SG who could learn from Kobe for two guys who are probably walking and a 2nd.

OKC out: RJ, Lamb, Perk
OKC in: Hill, Davis, 2015 second (reverse protected 31-40, if not conveyed 2016 2nd unp.)

OKC upgrades the frontcourt. Would then use a 2nd to get Prigs.

Thoughts?

I don't think the Lakers will throw away Davis in any day unless they get a quality player or a decent 1st round pick... he's been playing out of position basically the whole season... and he's still having Impact on games.... I think if the Lakers/OKC make a trade it will involve Hill/Lin....

I think PJ and Lamb for Ed Davis is fair to both sides.
