Wizards/Suns/Nets Giving Wall what he wants

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Sat Feb 14, 2015 6:47 pm

Wizards out: Dre Miller, Seraphin, Porter Jr, 2015 1st (lotto protected)
Wizards in: I Thomas, G Green, Miles Plumlee

Suns out: I Thomas, G Green, Miles Plumlee
Suns in: Brook Lopez, 2015 Wizards 1st

Nets out: Lopez
Nets in: Porter Jr, Seraphin, Dre Miller

Why for Nets? Deal one of their high salary guys and save a lot of money this year, a ton next year and get a decent prospect as well. Hard to imagine they could find a better deal.

Why for Suns? They want to balance their roster. Len is clearly the guy they envision for the future, but why not bring in an elite offensive big in the short-term while they bring him along? Plus they still get the 1st they want for Thomas.

Why for Wizards? Wall says he wants a playmaker for the open roster spot and with Beal up in the air, here comes Thomas to provide offense, Green adds valuable shooting, and Plumlee gives them a cheap depth big.

I actually think Porter is too much. I'd just have them keep Porter and send Green to BKN.

I think the Suns might be a little wary of taking on Lopez's contract. If they do re-sign Dragic to market value in the offseason (around 10 to 12 mil per year? Assuming they hold his bird rights) it would rocket them over the cap and close to the luxury tax. Lopez is a nice piece to add, but his contract is atrocious.

Bad deal for the Suns. The are probably about 200 players in the league the Suns would have more interest in than Brook Lopez. And they lose all their depth in the backcourt in this trade.
