Dumars is gone, but the craziness remains the same
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

It's only good news if he is at minimum an average starting PG in the NBA for the life of that deal. I find that extremely unlikely. I mean he put up big counting totals on a bad Pistons team with no one else to score/playmake for them for 25 games, but he was still his usual inefficient, poor defending, high turnover self. He just isn't that good of a basketball player.

Guys, this deal will look great when the NBA announces it's quintupling the cap next year.

He looked just fine for us at pg after he got used to our system,he is great with dre.he showed no signs of slowing down last year and I think he can stay around what he was avg for us.Knight just got 5/70 and jackson is the better pg by far.

I bet no one will question his contract after the season is underway. Now that we have a stretch 4,he will have even more space to keep attacking that rim or just pass it off to dre.As long as his jumper is respectable,he is a fine pg.

Jackson has been a questionable decision maker who shoots inefficiently his entire career, including when he had all kinds of options to stretch the floor for him in OKC. Last season, he ranked 44th at his position in TS percentage. I see no reason why that will change this coming season, or why the Pistons would be delusional enough to outbid themselves and offer a max contract.

For what it's worth, Brandon Knight (who is also overpaid) was 20th in TS percentage.

Is there a chance they change how revenue is distributed in a few years among players, because I'm having a hard time coming up w/ a way that you can justify calling all the overpays this year based on looking good in the future. I feell like there won't be a time when guys get 30-40 mil a year and these deals will still look bad.

I thought he'd get paid but I don't see how he's worth 2 more a year than Knight.

Jackson was in a toxic situation in okc and a backup, when he came to det and was given the keys and consistent minutes to start,he played awesome (excusing the first 10 games). No one is argueing that knight is the better shooter and defender (which jackson isnt bad),but jackson is better in every other fassat of the game.Knight has had every oppertunity to start at every team hes been traded to.Fact of the matter is jackson fits in with this team and dre.We also dont know if we outbid our self or not,no one on this forum is employed in the pistons front office.

Curious about the negative comments - doesn't anyone see what is happening to the salary cap next year? Sure it is a risk, but starting PGs are going to be get 20M a year starting next year. As crazy as it sounds, this will be an under-market deal next year.
