No way is Frye the worst contract he will only be paid about $8,200,000 this year....

I will start with Nikola Pekovic contract

Pekovic. Then, I'd throw Varejao and Landry in there just ahead of Frye. Otherwise, we will have to see how some of these new contracts work out, otherwise, we'll have some new ones. Maybe Wes Matthews and Demarre Carroll if they don't click/work out.

Good list.

Rose may end up being a bad contract as well, depending on how he plays going forward.

Ehh..he's an elite offensive player and rebounder that along gives him lots of value.
He's only 23 with plenty of time to work on his D and a coach with plenty of options to mask it.

Of the signings this year, I think D.Carroll and R.Jackson have potential to be pretty bad...especially Carroll at his age and outside of Atlanta's system.

Pekovic followed by possibly Chris Bosh if he comes back a shell of himself.

I can't pick an expiring contract. And you have to be close to or over 10 million a year for me.

So, my list is Pekovic, Varejao, Gortat (not horrible now, but looking worse by the day), Asik, Matthews (if he can't play), Burks (if he can't get back and improve), Wilson Chandler (I didn't get that one), and Brandon Knight (once he actually signs, way too much money for him).

I'm also not a fan of Tobias Harris, but the way they structured that deal was smart.

Right now, Pek followed by Matthews
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

For guys not mentioned I'd add in Kemba Walker (fine player, but paid $12 mil a year for the next 4 years) and Nick Young (not worst by any means since it's only about 5 mil, but it's definitely a real bad contract right now).

Also an honorable mention to Derrick Williams. Only 2 years and 5 mil, but has a PO on it and he was likely only getting slightly above minimum deals elsewhere.

This feels a little weird to say, and its certainly not the worst, and he'll never be traded, but Tony Parker may be up there. 3 more years owed around 45 million.

Another vote for Enes Kanter. For all the talk about his offense, he's one of the worst passers in the league. A black hole net negative and statistically the worst defensive center in the modern NBA.

Pek's will be a worse contract if he can't play, obviously.

Varejao at 2/20 is not bad, when healthy he's a double double machine and plays good D. Frye and Landry are much worse

He is never healthy though.
Averages 34 games a year the last 5 years and is coming off another major injury.

It is a pretty bad contract.
