Jazz/Hawks - Simple

Post#1 » by mlloyd10 » Tue Feb 9, 2016 7:58 pm

Very Simple

Teague for Burks

Why Hawks: Allows Dennis to start and Burks would be nice young SG to pair with him for the future

Why Jazz: Need a PG

No reason for Hawks to entertain this until the off-season due to injury. And then Teague becomes less valuable to the Jazz because they don't get that 2nd playoff push out of him.

Value seems reasonable enough tho I don't think Burks is really the best fit for the Hawks system.

I'm not sure he can be had for cheaper to be fair.

The best current offer that has been made public is George Hill and draft considerations for Teague, Knicks didnt have the assets to get him, Jazz offer Burke, the GSW 1st, a protected Utah 1st, and maybe a 2nd.

Agreed that Teague can *not* be had a lot cheaper than Burks.

But also agree with Chuck that Burks' injury screws up the timeline for both teams. Hawks won't do it until Burks returns, at which point Utah is looking at just a 1-year stop gap and may choose an option that *is* a lot cheaper.

Hawks pass on that. I've already seen 6 different rumors on Teague in the past hour so who knows what is true.

Worst one I've read: Deron and Justin Anderson for Teague. Doesn't make sense for either team and is just puke-worthy for the Hawks.

Also this one made me giggle:

Teague's value is going to be similar to what Reggie Jackson's or Enes Kanter's was last season.

Why? Teague has another year on his deal.

And isn't poison in his team's bloodstream the way Jackson and Kanter were last year.

Why?

Teague's more complete a player than Kanter, and both of those players were about to be free agents, while Teague is locked up cheap-ish for 1 more year.

Also, there was a big spread between what RJ and Kanter went for -- (a 2nd and some backups) and (a 1st, Pleiss, and a 2nd while swapping bad contracts in a way that moved the cap hit forward for Utah)

Im not talking about player situation but trade value, Burks is a young player who is getting better every year, he's locked up on a good deal, I dont think the Jazz trade his continuing potential and his good deal value for a year and half of Teague, now if that puts the Jazz out of the running then so be it but Trey Burke and 2 1st round picks is on par with or better than George Hill for Teague.
