DET/MIL - Swapping Guards

Post#1 » by Smitty731 » Thu Feb 11, 2016 12:59 am

Detroit trades: Steve Blake and Brandon Jennings
Detroit acquires: Jerryd Bayless and O.J. Mayo

Milwaukee trades: Jerryd Bayless and O.J. Mayo
Milwaukee acquires: Steve Blake and Brandon Jennings

Why for Detroit? The Pistons have a huge hole at SG with injuries to both Caldwell-Pope and Meeks. Mayo can fill that spot and provide help at PG as well. He's a nice bench guy for a playoff team. Bayless can also back up Jackson at PG.

Why for Milwaukee? Jennings goes back to where he started and fills in at PG for the Bucks. He could end up re-signing there next year as either the starter or backup.

All of these guys are expiring at the end of the year, so there are no long term salary implications. Just better fits and filling needs for the rest of this season.

I like it. The team hasn't played quite as well since Jennings got back. This establishes a three man rotation in the backcourt with improved shooting and makes it solely Jackson's team again.

Yes for Detroit. The Jennings-Milwaukee bridge may have been burnt though.

What's the need for Plumlee? He wouldn't play over Baynes. Would rather have Bayless to back up Jackson and provide more shooting. No way the Bucks do this deal anyways, but I'd much rather have Bayless than Plumlee.

We have dinwiddie and OJ and lets face it if Blake can be productive, we can find someone off the streets, if it really came down to that. He wouldn't play over baynes, however he provides insurance to baynes and in this system is much more valuable. I am not against bayless, i am more trying to address multiple needs.

I don't see any reason for MKE. Bayless is by far the best player and can play the point.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
