Kings - Suns

Post#1 » by kalenclayton » Wed May 18, 2016 4:07 am

Kings send #8 and Rudy Gay
Suns send #4 and Brandon Knight

Kings do this to get a guard who can handle the ball and play off the ball. He would be a great complement to Darren Collison. Knight could be in the Kings backcourt for good as I think he would be a great addition to a lineup that includes both WCS and Cousins. This also allows the Kings to draft one of Hield, Dunn, or Murray (in that order).

Phoenix does this to get a more balanced team. The Suns could start Gay at the 4, which makes this team very intriguing. I love the idea of a starting lineup of Bledsoe, Booker, Warren, Gay, and Chandler. I think this team could make some noise earlier than expected. They drop 4 spots in the draft, but they get a shot at an athletic 3/4 who they had coveted in the past.

I like Knight better than Gay.

I like #4 better than #8.

How about #8 and Casspi for #4

Casspi doesn't have that value.

Could the Kings add anything here to make this work? I feel as if this is a win-win trade in terms of fit.

Make it simple. Gay for Knight.

I agree in a way. I believe that Gay has a little more value than Knight, so that was why I threw the pick swap in there. The Kings (and I) love Hield and he should be a priority to them. Getting the 4th pick almost ensures that he goes to Sac. I actually think the Kings could add another small piece to make the pick swap a little more palatable. Maybe add McLemore to the deal?

This is something I could see happening.

The value is fine in a vacuum but I'm not convinced the Suns will essentially move the Lakers pick, Ennis, and Plumlee for Rudy Gay, even after the most recent devaluation of that pick.

I can see them using Knight to move up for a prospect. Knight, #13, #28 for Belinelli, McLemore, and #8? But Kings fans probably don't like that and the Suns would have to be in love with a prospect at that position that the Kings obviously are not.

I just posted that on the Suns board. Only IF Bender is gone. Sac can definitely take either Dunn or Murray and Suns could take Chriss or best remaining PF on board...if they go with Chriss, maybe take someone more ready with higher iq/better rebounder at 13 like Sabonis...opposite strengths to kind of complement each other depending on teams and matchups...Sabonis more ready now..Chriss with more boom/bust potential.

I think the Suns would just as soon pay T.J. Warren a lot less and let him play the SF spot than trade back and give up Knight for Gay.

And Booker might end up being a SF the way teams are going smaller and smaller.

I would prefer to keep Casspi just because he loves it here and we love him. That being said, this trade kinda makes sense.

What do you think about the original trade?
Gay + 8 for Knight + 4. Maybe Kings add McLemore?

I could be convinced if you added McLemore, but that may just be the Jayhawk homer in me speaking lol.

Not a Gay fan. I'm not necessarily a Knight fan either, but I'd rather have him than Gay.

Gay is the most abundant type of player in the NBA right now and his 1 + player option contract isn't enticing. Casspi or McLemore does not have any value in trades, so the Kings can definitely keep them.

I don't see a trade for the Suns here unless a third team is involved and the Kings give up actual pieces to sweeten the pot.

There's an abundance of athletic 6'8 forwards averaging near 20 PPG on +45%FG?

I'm a fan of Knight and would do Gay for Knight straight up. But if that doesn't get it done id hope the Kings keep Gay and look for a guard in FA or the draft.

I would do Gay for Knight straight up and be happy to keep #8 and draft Chriss. Chriss is born and raised in Sac, it would be coll to see the Kings draft and develop him. He fills a stretch 4 need as well.
