Great news for Nets fans. No so great for Celtics fans.

This is actually perfect. Lin helps create buzz. He's the best PG realistically available to them. The contract is more than fair for a starter. And Lin gets a real chance to prove he is a starter in this league.

I'd chalk Thad for Lin and Levert as a win. Pretty much why I'm fine with trading solid but not spectacular vets for draft picks because if you make smart signings they are pretty much replaceable.

Makes sense for both sides, and given some of the other contracts we've seen, not bad at all.

Brooklyn could need the help, and bringing back an NYC icon is a really nice touch. Lin is going to face some limelight again but he's a little more seasoned now (and expectations will be a bit more grounded) so hopefully everyone can just enjoy it. I like it.

Heh, sadly jealous of this deal for the nets. At least I get to go see him play from time to time for cheaper.

Great first move. I would love to see a competent fun team in Brooklyn surprise everyone. Who knows, Lin, Lopez, and a bunch of hungry young dudes is something.

I wanted Rondo, but for this price, I'm extremely happy.
Now we need a PF badly and some depth.

Glad you brought him up. I think this news was devastating to the Rondo camp. Who else potentially pays him now? I'm guessing he has to take another one year deal and for not much money.

Trader Joe, you have to be very happy with the direction the Nets are going in. Weather or not you prefer Rondo to Lin you got a nice player on a very reasonable contract. I think the Lin/Atkinson dynamic is a good thing and putting Lin in the backcourt with RHJ (who hopefully will develop a jump shot) is going to be fun.
I also like that your team has 2 high risk, high reward rookie scale players in LaVert and McCollough. Many believe both would have been lotto picks if they stayed healthy.
Marks seems to have a plan to build up an infrastructure during these years of no picks (only 2 left) with a lot of flexibility moving forward while adding young pieces into the mix.

I am happy!
I was wary if the Thad trade at first because I thought it meant a complete tear down/rebuild, but it was fair value and hopefully it helps us in free agency. As for LeVert, I like what I've read but it seems like he was a major reach. Still I'll trust Markinson for now. CMC I'm a big fan of, but we need a veteran PF badly as he can't be counted on right now.
I hope we put a respectable product on the floor next season. I'm not expecting playoffs, rather a team that competes and looks to have a future. It would also be nice to minimize that pick swap with the C's next year. Technically we do have a pick but probably not our own.

Re: Stein: Lin to Brooklyn - 3/36
If DJ and Ish can make 6 or 7, Lin is worth 12.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Great move for the Nets especially but I voted it was good for both. From what I understand Lin took a bit less so he could get starter's minutes. I was expecting him to get more money.

I still need to see what happens for awhile to call this a good deal for anyone but Lin, seems much closer to the "bar" though than the Mozgov deal.

Re: Stein: Lin to Brooklyn - 3/36
Even if they sign someone better to start (Rondo?), this is still good value for one of the best backup/spot starting PGs in the league.
How much mileage will they get out of Brook - Lin too?
