Lots of Rondo Deals

Post#1 » by pipfan » Thu Dec 8, 2016 1:49 am

I never liked the signing, and he is clearly a terrible fit. I wanted Chic to blow it up, but it is obvious that we will hold the current course and try for 2017 and 2018 FA. Of course, CP3 is the target next summer, and we have the Wade connection, but I have my doubts. I figure, if CP3 is a real option, these guys could be moved again.

to the teams gettting Rondo, they can ride him out this year or cut him. The Bulls could throw in $3 million to cover his option next year, if necessary.

All of these deals involve the Bulls getting an upgrade and the other team getting an asset or two and an expiring

why would anyone want Rondo? for the past 2-3 years he has been like a ping pong ball going from team to team and wearing out his welcome very quickly

I can't see anybody having any significant interest in Rondo. Of the trades proposed I honestly don't think that any of the other teams would accept (1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 are definitely not happening).

I'm a Bulls fan. I wouldn't trade our 2017 pick just to get rid of Rondo.

I like the Knight trade.

Dragic, Williams and Knight versions could all be a possibility. The rest aren't close.

I don't see Rondo getting traded. He's not commanding any value and there's no point going out of our way to 'get rid' of him. Gotta ride or die with him and hope we get the best version possible of him while we have him.

rondo is salary filler and an expiring here. The appeal is the pick and future cap space for the other teams (and help some of them tank)

There wasn't enough appeal to most of the offers however. A late 1st and a (not even) expiring for Rubio is a pretty low ball offer.

Given the offers as constructed, Knight is your man.

The knight version makes some sense.

Rondo is a terrible fit on all NBA teams. He is a player that is a negative and teams get better with is departure. If Rondo was an asset he would probably still be in Boston.

Agree, Knight is probably the only realistic target, along DWill.
But, do Bulls really want to have him under contract for three more seasons, with their plans for FA?
Also, after few losses in a row, I think the eagerness to give up pick has fallen. It would have to be a better player.

Holiday might come into play here, since he is expiring, but I think Pels would like to keep him, and dont think he would mind staying.

If you want Williams for Rondo+pick... Find any team willing to take Rondo.. For anyone on their roster.. And you got a deal. I'm looking at;

Brewer+2nd(s) (protected first?) for Rondo
Rondo+Bulls first for Williams
Williams for Brewer+Houston pick+Bulls first

And thinking everyone could be happy with it.. Houston pays to trim a few million next year and they could use a back-up PG, I think? Rondo could "start" but his main time would be the 10-12 minutes matched with EJ against second units, with Harden out. Salaries require Ennis or KJ to go out though, does Ennis have value? Does him going to Dallas cancel some value they send out?

Hard for me to value Rondo, partly because he isn't good in general and mostly due to those 40 games a couple years ago. But I kind of think Houston could pay a top 20 protected pick to turn Brewer+Ennis into Rondo+DFS. And Dallas should be very happy to take Brewer and potentially two firsts for Williams. Williams could be happy in Chicago.

But if Ennis has value, or if Rondo is as valueless as I have him, that suggestion looks awful for Houston. But Rick giving Dorian minutes, kind of feels like he should have more value than Ennis so maybe that makes it better for Houston?

Knight might not be bad. The Suns would be happy to move his long term deal and get a pick. The Bulls get an upgrade, who they should be able to move on the slight chance CP3 is interested in Chic.
