Dallas minny wolves get wes matthews
Minny in wes matthews.#9 overall
Dallas in pekovic.aldrich.#6 overall
Minny is a prime spot if the draft positions stay as is theyre in the center of the pg and dont need a point guard. Thibbs would love wes matthews minny shores up their perimeter d adds additional 3pt shooting and will likely still get the guy at 9 they'd take a 6 for a few less bucks.
Mavs are desperate for a pg and Might have their choice here. Pek is dead weight and carlisle may like aldrich a bit more than thibbs does.

MIN is not going to move down in the lottery over Wes Matthews.
Pekovic will be medically retired, where only MIN can turn him into cap space. He won't be traded. View his contract as pure cap space.

Agreed with Shrink, I'd love it for the Mavs as we lose Wes and get a better pick, but that means it's too lobsided in our favor. But hell, I'd do Wes for Aldrich straight up, nothing else needed.

Re: Dallas minny wolves get wes matthews
In terms of the lottery, I'm not sure Wes Matthews moves you up one pick. But Sacramento might be in the market for a wing behind Hield (could use Matthews at SF in theory).. even then, I'd doubt it.
If Dallas wants to move up to #6 overall, I just dont see how they can do it without adding some sort of future 1st to the deal. Maybe if a 3rd team was involved, where MIN used LaVine to land a PG they liked or a PF they liked, and suddenly had a hole at SG. Even then though, Wes is too volatile to be a guy who moves you up in the lotto like that.

6 for 9 and Matthews is an interesting thought. As of today, I think the Mavs would have to add 2 2nds to make it work.

I try to think of it in terms of picks.. what pick would it take to make a team drop from 6 to 9 in this draft? I'd have to think it would be a top 15 pick, at least for me. And Wes + 2 2nds falls short of being worth the #15 for me.
I honestly am not sure that Wes' value is positive at this point. You have to wonder if he's playing poorly because he's asked to do too much or if he simply can't do it like he used to pre-injury

Hes a 3d guy isnt playing poorly he just has to create too much because we dont have any playmakers or anyone that creates a double team. He's a 14ppg guy that plays bery good perimeter d and will be a 39% 3 point shooter on a quality team. On the surface 6 for 9 is worth more but when u factor in getting a starter as well and the if minny wants markannan or isaac if those guys are available at 6 theyll be available at 9. Now if minny wants a pg this deal is doa but i dont see how the kings and knicks at 7 and 8 also dont take a guard.

I'm not sure Isaac will be available at 6, much less 9.. keep in mind that picks are still subject to change via lotto and trade. I think if Isaac is there at 6 and Minny doesnt want him, they should be able to find a suitor. But right now this seems too specific to be a viable reasoning for a trade

Re: Dallas minny wolves get wes matthews
With his current contract and production Matthews is pretty close to neutral value. There is no way the Wolves are moving down 3 spots in the draft to acquire him. Honestly, I don't think Dallas has much that would be of interest to Minnesota.

Re: Dallas minny wolves get wes matthews
I like Matthews and think he would be a welcome fit in MN, but I don't think Matthews contract has positive value to teams flush with capspace like Minnesota. If anything, Dallas should be adding incentive for MN to take Matthews, not the other way around.

yeah I proposed this when Minny was only pick higher than Dallas and it was pretty well rcvd. Put going from 6 to 9 feels like too much.

Re: Dallas minny wolves get wes matthews
Rubio + Aldrich for #9 + Mathews + Harris?
Wolves can easier consolidate trade (with #9 vs. where Rubio fits) or draft 2 rookies.
Dallas gets a pass first PG.

It really depends on how you view matthews value. Some casual fans think he sucks because he constantly goes 4/10 but that's what 3 point shooters do. He is still a high level 3d guy on a quality team where he doesnt have to create offense for himself. That said his per year value is high hes more like a 14m guy than a 18 per guy but its only 2 years.
I wouldn't do your deal because i value wes especially if paired with rubio but id do 9 plus powell plus harris/yogi/ or barea

In Dallas he's worthless since we don't have a play making PG. He chucks up ill advised shots all the time. His big selling points are his vert leadership and D, the former is not all that necessary to the Mavs with Dirk there. So he'd be a better fit with someone like the Wolves.

When factoring in their salaries, not at all. Aldrich can be a backup to Noel that has some bulk and we get to clear 18 mill of Matthews for the next 2 years off our books, beyond worth it.

Except he also shoots those percentages on 2's, so no, he sucks.

I don't think he's that bad. Many questions his health. This is not true. As far as I watch, he's not bothered by injury. But his shot-selection and decision making. He tries to fill the voids of lacking playmakers. The result is nothing fun to watch with. Even so, he hits 3 at 38% from 3pt land. And he is still a heck of defender. That's a quality 3-and-D guy. Talking about age, he's only 30 year old. Random fans act like he's on his last leg. He's still in a great shape. But he's got to be smarter offensively. He's still valuable to some playoff teams that desperately needs a quality 2 like him.
I don't like Aldrich is what I want. I won't even sign him with cap space. He ain't any better than Salah Mejri who's at least mobile and is an average shot-blocking presence.

I agree - Aldrich will forever be underrated because he doesnt do much in the way of counting stats, but prior to MIN he had 2 years of being a very productive backup. Good positional defender/rebounder, and just one of those tough guys.
That said, you could be selling a dollar for 75c in a Mathews/Aldrich swap. Aldrich isn't exactly 'in favor' over in MIN right now either. It might not be much more, but you should be able to squeeze a little more out of that
