I don’t see any reason for Portland to not cut out Team X.

Even if the deal doesn’t save money, dump Brogdon or Simons or Thybulle in a follow up deal..

What protection would be required on a 2025 Warriors 1st to make a Wiggins for Grant deal work? For all of the Warriors' faults, they were a 46-win team and if you replaced Wiggins with Grant, they could have easily gotten 4 more wins to be a 50-win team.

Id really like to see Grant for Paul instead there..

Once you’re using Wiggins, you should use a third team. Dallas would save Portland money there.. or maybe some other third team.

I don’t love it for Team X…

If it’s a lotto protected pick and Grant fits then maybe. I can’t think of who Team x might be though.

Hmm. That’s kind of interesting.

I don't think I'd give up a pick to turn Wiggins into Grant (unless were talking about a heavily protected fake pick like the one we gave Washington).

I don't know... I think you put Grant in Wiggins place and you would be a 50-win team this past year

Yeah, Dallas throws a second in to whoever is needed. Definitely worth taking the chance on Wiggins IMO.

Still like it a lot better if you can get Paul/Grant Wiggins/Brogdon done with whatever assets.

What do you have as the empty roster spot cap hold for 2024-25?

How much will a minimum salary count for against the cap?

I’m using the same $1,160,544 that Spotrac has. The 2 year vet minimum is currently projected at $2,093,637.

And does that $2.09 Million count fully against the cap?

For any player signed using the actual vet minimum exception on a one year contract, rather than cap space or a different exception, yes.

Thanks! But 2024 second rounders would be the $1.1 Million regardless, right?

question from a CBA dummy: I thought in the past vet min deals counted less against the cap than their actual contracts--as a way to encourage teams to still sign veteran players to min contracts as opposed to rookies. Did I imagine that or was that changed in this new CBA?

It looks like from here... any veteran two years or more only counts as the 2 year vet minimum against the tax and in trades

Fox on Malik Monk's FA: "money talks". He may not be willing to take the pay cut as some kings fans here believe.

It’s probably a bad idea and might be an overreaction, despite a great win..

Wiggins for Caris, Niang, 2nd

Cleveland can fill roster cheaply under the tax while adding a better fifth starter who is locked up a couple years. Or you go over the tax a year early, use MLE on a big and keep Okoro and have the top 8-10 you hope to run with for 3-5 years..

Golden state fans don’t seem to hate THJ/Maxi/2nd. This feels similar?

I’d pay 20th for Cleveland to get this done and think that’s what it take IRL, but going with the room
