Atl-Chi-SA

Post#1 » by pipfan » Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:28 pm

Chi sends Lavine and Port 1st to ATL
Chi gets their 2025 SA pick back (plus HUGE financial flexibility)

Atl sends Young to SA
ATL gets Lavine and Port 1st from Chi, plus the 2024 #3 pick (Dillingham or Topic-best PG available) and their 2025 1st back from SA

SA sends the #3 pick and ATL their '25 pick back to them, plus Chi's pick back to them
SA gets Young

I think SA should go for it with Young. He's a great fit with Wemby, and a lineup of
Young/Jones/Blake
Vassell/Branham
Johnson/Champaigne
Sochan/Wemby
Wemby/Collins
is pretty awesome and should be a solid playoff team (at least) by next season. Plus, Young's huge deal runs out when Wemby's max will kick in

ATL probably doesn't want to blow it up, so I think this move might make them better overall, with a brighter future
Murray/Dillingham
Lavine/Bogs/Bufkin
Hunter//Bogs/Griffin
Johnson/Hunter/Okongwu
Capela/Okongwu/Fernando
They would also have their own #10 pick and the Sac pick, for best bigs available. They get their pick back next year, plus the Port future 1st (should be a '27 or '28 pick in the teens-Port won't suck forever)

Murray and Lavine are famous friends, and would work well together. Their D would improve, and they'd have young pieces to play with moving forward

Bulls move on and get their pick back. The resign DD and go with
Ayo/Caruso/Carter
White/Caruso/Terry
DDR/(Ball)/Terry
PWill/#11 pick/Phillips
Vuc/Drummond (make him a nice two year offer)
This is still a competitive team, and clears Lavine's salary. MAYBE at the deadline the Bulls would trade Caruso and DDR and blow it up

OF COURSE, ATL would have to be assured that Lavine is ok, but he should be.

This is the opposite of the Bulls blowing it up, it's more duct taping this year's roster back together and scrounging for the play in one more year.

If they were to do this, and just returning their pick for Lavine is an absolute giveaway, but in that case now is the time to actually blow it up. You don't resign DeRozan and ever entertain the thoughts of trading him at the deadline. More than likely the Bulls overpay him and find no takers for the inflated price they signed him to. This off season is the time for Demar to find the team who wants him at their price and see what the Bulls can get in a S&T. If Caruso is again 1st team all league defensive team, his value as an expiring contract will never be higher nor will his demand. More teams will be interested in giving p more for a full season of AC rather than just 35 games to end the season.

The summer is when you can see what teams could use a 34 MPG center and who has what to give up. MEM comes to mind. having traded Adams. Not even a lottery pick center is going to walk in and start as a rookie. So you have more potential trade partners for Vucevic. Yeah I'm for signing Drummond and bringing in a couple of young guys who maybe are ready to mature behind him, Mo Bamba, Jaxson Hayes for example.
