Florida Draft Trade (with Jazz)

Post#1 » by NYG » Tue Apr 16, 2024 2:07 am

Miami Heat get:
Lower of 2025 Magic/Nuggets First Round Draft Pick

Orlando Magic get:
8th Overall Draft Pick
29th Overall Draft Pick

Utah Jazz get:
15th Overall Draft Pick
16th Overall Draft Pick
Earlier of 2025 Magic/Nuggets First Round Draft Pick (Top 8 Protected - becomes '25 and '26 Magic 2nds if not conveyed)

-Heat would get below the first apron with this move if they let Caleb Martin and Haywood Highsmith go in free agency and they would acquire a pick in what should be a superior draft.

-Magic would use the superior 2025 draft to move towards the upper tier of this draft to snag the guard of their choice.

-Jazz move down to get a shot at another 2025 1st which is considered a better draft than 2024.

Would tightening the '25 pick protection help?

Or just remove the Jazz and make it 15th and 16th for the 11th Overall Pick via Chicago

To go from 15 and 16 to 8? that’s highway robbery and Jazz say no.

At 8 you should still have better odds of drafting an impact player than later. We need big swings. I don't see a ton of upside with that 2025 pick if it is top 8 protected, so I'll just take the pick we have now.

I think the Jazz just tanked their season so they could draft one of the more dynamic wings in the top 10 of this draft, whether that's Risacher, Buzelis, Williams or Holland. I could see them trading back, but I think they'd move to the later lottery and target a big (Filipowski, Ware, etc.) or another big guard (e.g., Kyshawn George).

I don't see them dropping 7 spots without bringing back a player they like in the deal. The Jazz also have three picks in the '25 draft between their own, the Cavs and Twolves. Magic or Nuggets' pick would be pretty late, likely 20-25. Jazz probably pass.

i think this is the opposite of what the Jazz need to do. they have such a ridiculous amount of picks coming that they want to combine picks to move up rather than break 1 pick down into 3 smaller parts.

they have 3 2025 and 4 2027 1sts as of right now. Idk how they plan to roster all those and two more.

Value looks too good for Utah but direction seems bad, they have a surplus of not great firsts already. They should be giving up value to consolidate into better assets like Presti has been doing, not just winning trades..

Orlando.. Should do this. The boring answer is they’d have to like someone at 8. Don’t love it for Miami. Think Denver will still be projected to be a top 5-6 team next year, doubt the 2025 draft is that much deeper/better than this draft.

Last thing ORL needs is two more projects with guaranteed contracts. They took two lotto Guys last year and parked one on the bench and one in the G-league…I’m hoping they trade out entirely in a package for a young vet scoring guard.

I'm not a fan of this for Miami at all. If that's all it takes, salary wise, to get out of the tax, smaller moves can be made. I would rather have the cheaper, cost controlled asset.

It's a no for me as a jazz fan. The talent difference between 8 and 15,16 in this draft is huge in my opinion and the jazz need to be swinging for high end talent guys.

whats your point? its still better than pick 29. chances are it will be in the late teens. i think one of orlando/miami will be in the play in range next year
