Grant isn’t what the Warriors need-especially for the price of those picks and at his contract imo. Dubs need a true #2 for Steph preferably at the SG spot imo

What if it were Maxi and Grant for Looney, Wiggins and the pick?

Does adding in Maxi and Looney into the trade change these players to an upgrade to Klay at SG? No, so again, not appealing at all.

Where are they quoted as wanting to pursue an SG upgrade this off-season?

You could also probably get Herro for Grant if that's preferred.

I wouldnt mind a Wiggins for Grant swap; however, if he’s not enough for us make the playoffs in year 1 its not worth the extra money.

Therefore, I’d only be willing to give our ‘25 1st lotto protected else a 2nd.

Not enough for POR.

Pass.

What about...

Mavericks get:
Andrew Wiggins

Warriors get:
Anfernee Simons
Maxi Kleber

Rockets get:
Tim Hardaway Jr.

Trail Blazers get:
Moses Moody
Jeff Green (stretch-waived)

Creative, but POR needs to aim for picks.

This makes more sense for Golden State.

Curry/Podz
Simons/FA
Kuminga/GPII
Green/FA
Kleber/TJD/Looney

Replaces Klay so he can move on, CP3 moves on, all of a sudden the tax situation is great. We'd be on the hunt for 3+D players from there.

I don’t see Portland basically straight salary dumping Simons.

I found a solution... Portland could just stretch waive both Looney and Green then get outright below the tax and get to 15 roster spots.

Dallas Mavericks get:
Andrew Wiggins

Golden State Warriors get:
Anfernee Simons
Maxi Kleber

Houston Rockets get:
Tim Hardaway Jr.

Portland Trail Blazers get:
Kevon Looney (stretch-waived)
Jeff Green (stretch-waived)
Lottery Protected 2025 Golden State Warriors First Round Draft Pick (2026 - Top 10 Protected / 2027 - Top 8 Protected / 2028 - Top 4 Protected or becomes 2029 Golden State Warriors Second Round Draft Pick)

2 guys POR doesn’t want and a FRP that probably becomes SRP. And the guys we don’t want aren’t even expiring.

No thanks from POR.

If I'm Houston I just offer 9 (sign and wait)Landale and Tate to get Simons instead. Now that exceptions can be used as tpes I'm sure someone would take Tate for free like Philly into the room exception.

This values Simons as essentially a negative contract (or at most as a neutral).

Portland views him positively.... so this suggestion would be DOA

Yeah, this is real bad. Blazers aren’t using Simons and taking on multiple years of completely dead salary just for a so-so pick when there are easier paths to get under the tax.

It just seemed like a requirement based on their agenda

This entire board is predicated on people expressing opinions on what is best for their team. Almost every proposal here would fall apart if it required a team stating their intentions.

I happen to agree with Coxy's general premise (don't get a big head, Coxy). I think if we trade Wiggins, just trading him for a different guy to play SF instead of him probably doesn't make a lot of sense. If we're trading him, I think it should be to clear more space for Kuminga and/or Moody and to fill a specific need. I think most of us that religiously watched the Warriors this year would agree that the biggest problems included:
* Not having a reliable second scorer
* Pretending Klay was a reliable second scorer while ignoring his increasingly poor defense

If we traded Wiggins (and whatever else) to help upgrade the 2, then filled in SF minutes with Kuminga/Moody, it would at least give us a chance of meaningfully improving. I absolutely don't buy the premise that switching out Wiggins for Grant makes us a 50+ win team.

I want Brogdon, THJr, unless we’re moving Jalen (or somehow Whitmore, Brooks, Thompson, Eason) doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Houston needs a good backup PG, when Fred is on the bench, or injured, the offense collapses.

Ya - PDX would move Simons for that HOU offer but I strongly disagree with the ide that they would move him for a protected FRP and ballast. For better or worse they seem to value him quite highly.

This clearly values as positive, much less expiring salary and a 1st, but I agree, he's worth more.
I don't think Jerami Grant fetches financial relief and a 1st rounder.
