Spurs. That’s a bigger threat than the Magic. If Pop is willing to pay him and give him the starting spot…he’s gone. Money, starting and throwing lobs to VW is too much to turn down.

Why for Kings: upgrade perimeter D

The Bulls do it. Being honest I think the only team that would treat that PORT pick as valuable would be PORT. But maybe BRK wants to see if it hatches.

Vezenkov maybe makes the roster if he shoots like crazy in summer league and pre season. The Bulls mostly want that pick, people keep saying it's a weak draft, well the Bulls don't have their 2025 pick so this draft is a helluva lot stronger than that one.

What about Kevin Huerter for Grant Williams?

Yep. Would definitely do this. Would completely change the Kings' defensive ability and would actually become a top 10 defense IMO.
Use Barnes/Huerter for 1 more defensive upgrade big that can play the 4/5 and I think you've accomplished the goals Sacramento requires.

That is fair. And so are all the points made about him and I do agree at some point you need to make a decision on guys your going after.
I just believe if you're looking for Jerami Grant to come in and be a defender (again, he hasn't been that since his year in Denver and even then he didn't play good defense in the POs - like meaningful games people keep harping on) and take a dip in scoring IMO two things are going to happen. Jerami Grant will be unhappy with his offensive role and his trade value will plummet so you won't get value back. He wasn't happy in Denver with his offensive role and he won't be here unless he is the #2 behind Fox and the Kings will regret that. There might be better options that shake loose after the POs and when the lottery balls fall where they may.
IMO if Grant finds his way onto the Kings they are on the road to having everyone paid a tier above their output.

The positive I would say about Grant to the Kings if it did happen would be at least it's not Kuzma.

This is certainly all within the realm of possibility. But you can find negative possible outcome for any scenario. I just don't think you can really let perfect be the enemy what is, regardless, a very clear upgrade.

Yeah you and bpcox 05 are right. I am being a bit too hellbent on the perfect fit.

The problem is the market for PF doesn't have anyone worth 13

It's DFS, John Collins, Grant or Kuzma and none are worth 13

There are things to do to even out the value--at least with Grant, which is who I'm most concerned with.

Haha Yeah I was just thinking after I posted that...

Is there a deal where Sacramento trades down, gets a pick worth one of those guys plus an asset to keep for themselves?

What pick do you have as being worth Grant? Is there a trade down that makes sense then forward that pick to the Blazers?

I go back to what I wrote in the McNair thread.

He has three options and he must pick one and execute it successfully by no later than the deadline (should be this summer) and if he doesn’t his seat will be hot as hell if Sac misses the playoffs next year. Those three options are:

-Aquire an impactful PF that fits with Sabonis (keep Keegan)*
-Aquire a third star (can move Keegan)
-Trade one of Fox/Sabonis to create a more modern wing focused team

He has to do one of these.

*If Monk leaves just getting the PF will not be sufficient, he would have to get another playmaker too.

I like the idea of adding Duop into the discussed Grant for 13 deal. Think he is an improvement at backup C over McGee and Len.

Grant + Duop + 33 for Huerter + Duarte + 13 (PDX redirects Huerter to a 3rd team - IMO SAS for Graham and some SRP)

G - Fox / Monk / Mitchell
G - Ellis / Monk / Jones
F - Murray / Barnes / Vezenkov
F - Grant / Lyles / Barnes
C - Sabonis / Duop / Len or McGee

+ 33

Would Portland bring in 3 rookies though?

If Monk leaves, who are a few MLE-quality free agents they could sign?

If Monk leaves he likely has to roll replacing him into a trade. Brogdon becomes a target along with Grant, for example.

Monk’s scoring can be replaced internally, his play making can not. Monte would have to get a playmaker to backfill….and he still has all his other problems to address.

Exactly. Not to mention under the new system we need cost controlled Rookie deals and we traded away last years pick, we will lose next years pick. For cap management purposes no way I’m trading 13 and certainly not for any of those guys.

There are trade back options, that would allow for value now and a cost controlled contract going forward. I don’t think picking 13 or 23 is that much difference for Sac this draft.

Also, if Sac doesn’t get a wing in trade or the draft they should look at Naji Marshall in FA.

I think of those 4 Grant is the best fit, but kind of starts painting the Kings into a corner salary-wise. So I kind of like DFS as an upgrade that you won't break the bank for asset wise/salary wise.

Nets get Chris Duarte, Davion Mitchell and 27th Overall Pick (via Timberwolves) for Dorian Finney-Smith

Timberwolves get 31st Overall Pick (via Raptors) and 45th Overall Pick (via Kings) for 27th Overall Pick

Kings get Dorian Finney-Smith and 19th Overall Pick (via Raptors) for Chris Duarte, Davion Mitchell, 13th Overall Pick and 45th Overall Pick

Raptors get 13th Overall Pick (via Kings) for 19th Overall Pick and 31st Overall Pick
