LeBron to Warriors?

Post#1 » by kds92 » Fri Apr 26, 2024 5:53 am

Any chance something like this could happen? LeBron opts out but wants to stay on the west coast. S&T to the Warriors.

GSW In: LeBron, Bogdan
GSW Out: CP3, Wiggins, Podz, Looney, 2025 1st, 2027 1st, 2029 1st (top 4 protected)

Curry/Bogdan/Kuminga/LeBron/Green
Warriors re-sign Klay. Still have another 1st and Kuminga to upgrade the roster at the deadline if they want.

LAL In: Murray, Wiggins, 2025 GSW 1st
LAL Out: LeBron

Lakers get younger and a pick (think LeBron = Murray in trade value, but Wiggins is negative). They'd now have 4 tradeable picks and could look to add a star like Mitchell or Lauri.

ATL In: CP3, Podz, Looney, 2027 GSW 1st, 2029 GSW 1st (top 4 protected)
ATL Out: Murray, Bogdan

Hawks get expirings, a decent prospect, and 2 firsts for Murray. They also get off some long term money.

A LeBron/Draymond frontcourt sounds terrible. No spacing and the defense would be pretty bad. Who's gonna grab rebounds?

I wouldn’t want it, but if the Warriors front office did this I could see why.

Lebron is our mortal enemy and has been for a dozen years. Wouldn’t make sense for me.

LeBron has co-existed with far less spacing before. Do you remember the 2020 Lakers?

The defense would be bad? We are talking about an ATG defender in Draymond and still a very positive defender in LeBron.

No team is dumping 3 first-round picks to a soon-to-be 40 years old player who has been declining for a while. And both Curry and Lebron have pretty different playstyles. Their max ceiling is probably 5-8th seeds in the PO, factoring in their decline next season.

Please let it happen man I need this. Even if they would likely underperform due to age

Hell does KD wanna come back too?

I don’t think Golden State can aggregate and keep all this salary under the apron.

It would have to be “Wiggins, Podz, GP, Looney, assets” and fill the bench cheaply

And Washington owns the 2030 first, so can’t trade the 2029 first.

I do think it would be a nice ending for LBJ and the end of Curry’s peak.. But I think I’d use Kuminga instead of all the future picks like this, Podz/Kuminga/first type?.. This is a 2 year run and then a hard rebuild. Kuminga isn’t changing that..

re: spacing
That could be a real concern, when nobody on the front line is really a shooter. It is part of the problem we had this last year, honestly; when Klay was cold (and he often was), you had Curry with a bunch of guys who couldn't shoot.

re: defense
I'm not worried about the defense of LeBron/Draymond. But replacing Wiggins with Kuminga and having Bogdan at the 2 might lead to defensive concerns overall.

It's 2024 and LeBron is 40.

I'm sorry but a Draymond/LeBron frontcourt would get ate alive considering their age.

If the Lakers cut out the Hawks and used those picks to get Mitchell or Young, that might make sense.

27 29 LeBron and Curry may be retired and GS is a lotto team.

You do it from a business mkt pt but not from a basketball standpoint

If LeBron wanted to go GS he would opt out play for exemption or min 1 and 1 deal with the promise of max deals later

Keeps depth helps CP3 get ring keeps depth and picks.

Curry ,CP3 , Podz
Lebron, Thompson, Quinones
TJD ,vet min , vet min
Wiggins ,Moody, Gui Santos
Green ,Kuminga

GP2 Looney get traded

1) Warriors cannot receive anyone in S&T if CP3's contract is being used
2) Wouldn't pay anywhere near that much.. if Lakers want to move off him at almost 40 years old, CP3/Kuminga covers the salary. Maybe a '25 pick if they really want to get it done. Otherwise..nah

They just have to guarantee entirety of CP3 deal
