Brainstorming - Lakers

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Fri Apr 26, 2024 7:04 pm

Russell (opts in) for Nurkic

Suns get their point guard and Lakers get a center next to AD

Russell (opts in), Rui for Ayton

Blazers turn center over to Williams and cut long term salary. Lakers get a center next to AD

Russell (opts in), Rui, Vincent for Beal

Suns get their point and Lakers shoot for Beal returning to form and being a third star

No thanks from POR.

LAL will need to to find another dance partner.

Lakers are in a tough spot at center. AD is not strong enough to defend Jokic type centers, and does not shoot well enough to be a full-time power forward in today's NBA.

I have published Beal's idea a couple of times and it has been poorly received (or ignored) in the meeting... I don't dislike it... I think we cannot evaluate his performance in the Suns without taking into account his terrible situation in the Suns, playing without a true PG and as a 3 option

Still, AD can do it better than most...how many guys can defend the Joker?...my plan would be to get the best scoring guard possible to replace Russell... I ask... would the series go 3-0 if instead of Russell, they had D.Murray/Lavine/Beal etc...? I don't think so... (I know these guys are far from perfect but still....)

As a Suns fan, if you can turn Beal into D-Lo (Books boy), and Rui, it would be hard saying no.

The first two would be definite "no".

This one I think has merit.
What would it take to get Vando instead of Vincent?

Tough out for Dlo, but he had a good season and he will have suitors. I dont think he opts in, tho he might re-sign for the Lakers for a longer term deal. I dunno what else they can do, he was clearly their 3rd best player this RS and kept them afloat

Dont think the Suns have the assets. I dont think they have the assets do dump Beal like this either. No team in the league wants to be on the hook for 50mill/year for 3 more years

I think the 1st two are DOA. Portland aleady has an extra guard. DLo would just make 2 extra guards. Meanwhile Phoenix has a PG hole but they also have a center/size problem. Nurkic's the only guy with the ability to compete inside. If anything they need to add another solid big.

The 3rd one has a chance. Though it's not great for the Lakers.
