Back to the Future (PHX - GSW - MINN - ATL)

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Sun Apr 28, 2024 1:20 am

Phoenix out: KD
Phoenix in: KAT

GSW out: Wiggins, Kuminga, Paul (partially guaranteed enough to match salaries... like 9M), 2025/2027 1st, 2028 swap
GSW in: KD

Minnesota out: KAT
Minnesota in: Murray, Kuminga, Paul (@9M), GSW 2028 swap

Atlanta out: Murray
Atlanta in: Wiggins, 2025 GSW 1st, GSW 2027 1st

Why for Phoenix: extend their competitive window by getting a younger KAT who is also friends with Booker
Why for GSW: reunite the gang for a final 2 yr push w/ curry/KD
Why for Minny: get long term PG starter and assets for KAT
Why for Atlanta: break up the Young/Murray duo and get several 1sts along w/ a 3/D wing

Is this too cheap for GSW? if they need to add more to whom do they owe value to?

Dont think this is legal.

Currently GSW cannot aggregate contracts. Im not sure when that restriction would be lifted. I haven't run the numbers, but I think if CP3 is still on the roster-> they would still have the aggregation restriction

Paul is outgoing in this case. this is legal as long as they stay under the 2nd apron, which is doable. They are at around ~160M after this trade and have about 30M space to fill rest of roster out (5 more spots or so)

I don't see the fit of Wiggins in Atlanta. You are gambling on him returning to his 2022 form and not what he did this past season which was neither very good on the 3 nor the D. If this season is what he is going to be he is part of a very expensive platoon with Hunter.

Isn’t the fit getting two unprotected 1sts from aging GSW? It’s kind of what the OP said.

I’m curious what people think MIN’s rotation would be after this?

I'm assuming we'd be:

Conley - Murray
Ant - NAW
Mcdaniels - ?
Naz - Kuminga
Gobert

I'm not sure who should start at PG or PF, but I think you'd give the edge to the guys who have been here.

You have to factor in that the 25 first is likely a pick in the 20s with the addition of KD. The 27 first could have the potential to be a nice addition, but Atlanta is also having to eat $84 million in salary for a guy who was worse than DeAndre Hunter this season.
