They were probably thinking the Dubs would draft Wisebust with the 1st overall anyway since they have a superstar SG in Klay Washedson. Kinda like the Celtics trading town to 3 to still get their guy.

Wasn't the talk at the time that most of the teams at the top of the 2020 draft were trying to trade out?

If it makes you feel better, if the Warriors made the trade it would have been for Wiseman

ever thought about going pro with the whole nicknaming thing? :D

(I agree with you though, they were never going to usurp Klay - not even 3 years later - and they would have taken Wiseman)

Both teams would have drafted the same players anyway.

Warriors would've still taken Wiseman.
Wolves would have taken Edwards.

Minny would just have netted an extra asset and saved a lil bit on salary.

I read somewhere also that Timberwolves previous gm Rosas tried to trade down with teams 4-8, Chicago, Atlanta , Cleveland,NY and Detriot because he really liked Haliburton as well and he was his second favorite guy, and those teams all said No thanks..

So glad Detroit drafted Killian Hayes instead

I remember being on a Grizzlies message board saying trade everything not named Ja or Jaren for both the Warriors and Timberwolves picks. I wanted both Wiseman and Ant. Had seen Wiseman play in high school and watched my Memphis Tigers lose to Ants Bulldogs. I am still sold on both.

“The Warriors were really locked in on James Wiseman.”

Myers was not a good Gm.
