LA Lakers/Detroit 3 Player Blockbuster

Post#1 » by KB20 » Wed Jul 2, 2008 7:36 am

Los Angeles Gets:
Chauncey Billups
2009 2nd Round Draft Pick

Detroit Gets:
Lamar Odom
Jordan Farmar

Why For Los Angeles: They get the perfect point guard for the triangle. Chauncey is a great defender, shooter, and leader that would be a great locker room presence. He has won a ring before and knows what it takes. After this the Lakers resign their 2 prize free agents and sign Posey for the MLE and Kurt Thomas for the BiAE.
New Lineup
5) Andrew Bynum/Kurt Thomas/Chris Mihm
4) Pau Gasol/Ronny Turiaf/Vladimir Radmanovic
3) James Posey/Trevor Ariza/Luke Walton
2) Kobe Bryant/Sasha Vujacic/Joe Crawford
1) Chauncey Billups/Derek Fisher/Sun Yue

Why For Detroit: Joe is looking to blow it up. This Pistons team has been playing like they're owed something and its shown. This trade brings in some new blood and saves them a ton of money. Follow up this trade by sending Rasheed to Denver for Nene and the team is still able to contend now but is also set for the future.
5) Nene/Antonio McDyess/Trent Plaisted/Chiekh Samb
4) Lamar Odom/Jason Maxiell/Amir Johnson/Walter Sharpe
3) Tayshun Prince/
2) Richard Hamilton/Arron Afflalo/
1) Rodney Stuckey/Jordan Farmar/

There's no reason to get an upgrade on the point, and especially not by losing Farmar and hoping Coby Karl will be a solid backup. If Odom gets traded, it will be for a SF, there's no reason for the Lakers to make a trade at any other positions.

Not a good trade for the Pistons.

Billups is a champion... Finals MVP... was still top 10 in the NBA in PER last year... Has been an all-star the last 3 years... and is part of the best backcourt in the NBA.

Odom's own coach was calling him out in the finals for being stupid and not knowing what was going on.

I happen to like Odom, but another PF is the last thing we need.

You do realize that Fisher would be the backup, right?

Either way, it's not a good fit for the Pistons. We've got a roster full of PFs.

The trade doesn't improve either team. Leaves a hole in each team.

It only would work if Bynum was coming back instead of Odom and LA would not want to do that.

as a pistons fan i say no way. I dont think odom has any heart and isnt a capable of leading a team. I dont think chauncy and kobe are a good fit. They would butt heads something terrible. The only person on the lakers i would like to have on our team is kobe and i dont see the lakers wanting to part with him.
