Detroit | Dallas | Memphis | Orlando - Blockbuster

Post#1 » by roc » Mon Dec 15, 2008 12:01 pm

This is from a 1st time poster on the Detroit board...

Pistons Gets
Josh Howard
Brandon Bass
James Singleton
Darko Milicic
Antoine Walker
Greg Buckner

Grizzlies Get
Jerry Stackhouse
DeSagana Diop
Devean George
Kwame Brown
Cash considerations from Dallas
future 2nd round pick from Detroit

Dallas Gets
Rasheed Wallace
Tayshaun Prince
Walter Hermann

also the Grizzlies will be sending Kwame Brown to the Magic for Brian Cook

I hope it is not the case but if it is...

Why does Detroit do this? We get younger and keep some epiring money as well as adding 2010 contracts and a 20/8 SF to the mix. Hope that Darko gets it the 2nd time around???

Dallas dumps Diop's contract loses a 20/8 guy and some depth, a large expiring C that can play D while helping on O as well, and a darn good defensive SF in Tay.

Memphis gets a defensive backup C that is tied up for a few years?

Orlando needs a backup C so Kwame will suffice...

Will be interesting to see if this goes down.

"Will be interesting to see if this goes down."

Is this a legit rumour or just a trade idea? Because if it's a legit trade idea then it can't be exactly this because it's a 6 for 3 for Dallas. To get the value right we would also want Bass taken out.

If it's just a trade idea then it's too big to be realistic IMO

This looks just wacky, convoluted and puzzling enough that it makes me think it's real. I mean who would make this up? It almost makes sense and the structure reminds me of the Kidd trade. I'm gonna say that it's a legit rumor, although I agree with Hydro that some of the filler is mixed up here.

Don't know. New guy on the Pistons board posted this "rumor" and then has updated the rumor twice with new details.

It's awful value for the Pistons, especially for those fans who believe that Dumars still wants to win now. For the fans who see Dumars as more interested in getting younger and having capspace, this trade actually works as the only player signed past the 09-10 season is Howard with a team option. It would not only swap Sheeds expiring for equal expirings, but it moves Tayshauns contract as well.

I hate the thought of Antoine Walker (his shimmy freaks me out) and Darko Milicic (hated being in Detroit and doesn't want to be in the NBA) on the Pistons.

If we send Tay and Sheed for that garbage pistons are definitely done. We will have to wait for 2010 and pray because that team will be a joke.

Well I think part of it balances out for Detroit

Josh Howard ~=~ Tayshaun Prince [DAL fans like Howard here, DET fans like Prince]

but then the deal breaks down as it's Sheed for various bits and bobs.

Agreed. I can't see any trade to land Sheed in Dallas that both fan bases are going to agree with. Sheed would have a much better impact next to a post player and Dirk is not a post player. I don't like the Downgrade from Howard to Prince, but the other part is an upgrade if Bass is taken out.

Not crazy about this deal for DAL.

I actually like a three big rotation of Wallace/Dirk/Damp, and I don't believe Howard is better than Tay (I actually think they are ridiculously even in terms of value, and it depends on what the team needs). Detroit should in no way consider this though.

This alleged "rumor" is getting more attention than it deserves.

I had to have some fun with it on the TB. That's what happens when I mix tequila and hydro. :o

I like this trade for Dallas. It has Donnie Nelson written all over it. The Mavs tighten their roster up. Howard, Bass, Diop, Stack, Singleton and George for Sheed, Prince and Herrman. Only two of the six Mavs players are currently getting significant minutes anyway in George and Bass. Howard for Prince is only a small downgrade at SF statistically. Sheed is an upgrade at center and backup power forward to replace Diop and Bass. Herrman would replace Stack and Singleton's spot keeping the bench nice and warm. On Dallas end I don't see any negatives.
Sheed/Damp
Dirk/Herrman
Prince/Williams/Green
Wright/Terry
Kidd/Barea
Does leave us one man short but we can sign a minumum free agent or two.
