Chicago/Dallas/LA Clippers 9 Player Exchange...

Post#1 » by pja123 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 12:12 am

Bulls get:
Jerry Stackhouse
Jason Hart
Ricky Davis (might be waived)

Mavs get:
Chris Kaman
Andres Nocioni
Larry Hughes

Clippers get:
Josh Howard
DeSangana Diop
Antoine Wright

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE BULLS:
This deal saves the Bulls a bunch of money. They get rid of the unhappy Hughes and offload Nocioni's lengthy contract. Stack's deal expires (he is only guaranteed 2 mill next season) as does Hart's contract.
BULLS LINE-UP:
PG-Rose/Hunter/Hart/Hinrich(IR)
SG-Gordon/Sefolosha
SF-Deng/Stackhouse
PF-Gooden/Thomas
C-Noah/Gray/Simmons

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE MAVS:
Kaman would be an ideal fit at the 5 spot. He provides a lowpost presence and his skills compliment Dirk's perfectly. Dealing away Howard would hurt, but they get a fine replacement for Nocioni. He's a tough SF who plays quality defense and can knock down open jumpers. Larry Hughes is a savvy veteran. If he can stay healthy, he'd help them in the backcourt.
MAVS LINE-UP:
PG-Kidd/Terry
SG-Barea/Hughes
SF-Nocioni/George/Singleton
PF-Nowitski/Bass/Williams
C-Kaman/Dampier

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE CLIPPERS:
They ease the log jam up front while strengthening their perimeter talent and depth. Howard is a young and talented wingman who plays solid defense and can score 20ppg. They also get a quality defensive big man in Diop.
CLIPPS LINE-UP:
PG-Davis/Taylor/Collins
SG-Howard/Gordon/Wright
SF-Thornton/Novak
PF-Randolph/Skinner
C-Camby/Diop/Jordan

No! Dallas passes. I mean, I like kaman and all, but seriosuly, Howard is the better player and the rest comes down to Stack's expiring for Nocioni which I decline and Diop + Wright + $12 mil additional salary & tax. No thank you!

That's ridiculous. The Mavs would jump all over this.

Kaman's contract is the same length as Howard's. Nocioni's contract is the same length as Diop's. Hughes contract is bigger than Stack's, but expires by 2010. This means the Mavs don't hurt themselves financially in the long-run and will still have cap space for the big '10 free agent bonanza. Plus, they'd have a solid core to build around with a re-signed Dirk, Kaman, Nocioni, Jet Terry, and any draft choices.

This deal makes the Mavs a better team. Yes, Howard is a talent, but productive big men come at a premium. Acquiring Kaman would give the Mavs their best center in years and a perfect compliment to Dirk on the frontline.

Nocioni is a fine replacement for Howard at SF. He may not be the scorer Howard is, but he plays ferocious defense and is a pretty good shooter.

The Bulls love it.
