UTAH-TOR-CHICAGO- MIAMI

Post#1 » by ExtremeBaller » Wed Jan 14, 2009 4:44 pm

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=

Utah In:
Andres Nocioni
Shawn Marion
2009 Chicago 1st round pick
Utah Out:
Andrei Kirilenko
Carlos Boozer

Toronto In:
Andrei Kirilenko
Udonis Haslem
Toronto Out:
Jermaine O'Neal
Jason Kapono

Chicago In:
Carlos Boozer
Jason Kapono
Chicago Out:
Drew Gooden
Andres Nocioni
2009 1st round pick

Miami In:
Jermaine O'Neal
Drew Gooden
Miami Out:
Udoni Haslem
Shawn Marion

WHY????
Toronto:
Emergence of Bargnani, clog at centre, trade Jermaine O'Neal for a superb defending 3 and since we pick up Kirilenko's contract, we trade Kapono's contract for Haslem who can be a superb backup big man for the Raptors.

Utah:
Looks like they want to resign Paul Milsap over Boozer as he will be a cheaper option, so they trade Boozer now and upgrade at the 3 spot for the year and it Utah would only get better because Boozer has been out a while. They get rid of Boozer but also gt rid of Kirilenko and his contract but pickup a very similar player in Nocioni who is cheaper and contract a bit longer

Miami:
Get the centre they desperately need in JO. Get the cap relief they will want in 2010 and by trading Marion and Haslem for JO and Gooden, they get numbers off the books this year and the year after and can still go after Boozer?? if they wanted to. Beasley would become a full time 3 with Gooden and JO at the 4-5

Chicago:
Gets a legit big man they have been long waiting for to maybe help salvage the year and possibly convince to sign long term in Boozer. Pick up Kapono to be their 3 point threat and along side a PG that is able to break down the defense and dish it out, Kapono should thrive.

I'd personally pass on this for Miami. We downgrade from Haslem to Gooden and get crickety knees, due $23 million a year over the next two years, while Boozer (the guy we really want) goes to Chicago for practically nothing.

Incidentally, neither Chicago nor Utah touch this either. The Jazz are not looking to get out of Kirilenko's deal. They are playing extremely well right now and dumping one of their top players isn't in the cards. Chicago, on the other hand, might be dealing a potential lottery pick for a guy who MIGHT NEVER PLAY FOR THEM! Would any Chicago fan trust that Carlos Boozer was going to resign after what he did to Cleveland?

Toronto, for their part, gets too much. Kirilenko and O'Neal are not so far apart that they get to turn the negative valued Kapono into the positive valued Haslem...

Thats a lot of money to absorb for Miami. Another thing is, the trade put the Heat above the lux tax this season. Knowing the sentiment of the Heat owner about it, I'm confident to say that Miami will pass.

That won't help the Jazz win now, or later.

Chicago makes out like bandits and I'm sure they would give up more than this.

I’ve never been a big Boozer guy but even so this is pretty miraculous for the Bulls.
