A variation of the trade I just posted is to trade David Lee, Curry and Malik Rose for O"Neal.
For the Knicks, the only reason to do it is to dump Curry's contract and to hope that O'Neal supplies enough over the next one and half years (and stays healthy enough) to keep them entertaining while waiting for 2010.
He probably does not fit D'antoni's system and so will likely be a down grade over what Lee has been providing (although he would give them some shot blocking).
As Rose's salary comes off after this year, the savings on his contract ($7 millionish) would be used to sign Lee when he becomes a restricted free agent this year. Maybe Curry bounces back to his form of several years ago (or some resemblance of that) and provides a bonus for Toronto.

Re: toronto/ny
The thing is we don't need Lee, and we definitely don't want Malik Rose.
Tor and NY are bad trading partners, period.

Re: toronto/ny
The only way Toronto would take Curry is if the Knicks added Ill Will, or Gallinari and a second.
